SOA Software Adds VPs
Santa Monica-based SOA Software, a provider of Web Services management tools, said today that it has added two new vice presidents to its executive staff. The company has added Jeff Drake as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, and Alex Lazar as Senior Vice President of Sales. Drake was most recently director of security strategy for IBM Tivoli Software, and previously co-founder and EVP Corporate Development at Access360. StoneFly Gets Funding
San Diego-based StoneFly Networks, a provider of iSCSI storage equipment, has received a strategic investment from Dynamic Network Factory, a San Francisco Bay area company. According to a spokesman at the company, the firm will use the new money to plan operations and for expansion of its product lines. The company also confirmed that it has re-incorporated the firm as StoneFly, Inc., and that it will expand its products and services beyond the iSCSI market. DirecTV Fined $5.3M For Do Not Call Violations
Los Angeles-based satellite television firm DirecTV has been fined $5.3M, according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). DirecTV has been ordered to pay $5,335,000, the agency said, for violating Do Not Call provisions of the Telemarketing Sales Rule. The FTC said that DirecTV and companies it hired to promote DirecTV programming have been violating the Do Not Call rule by calling consumers on the National Do Not Call Registry. Amp'd Mobile Gets Strategic Investment from MTV
In its second major content deal this week, Amp'd Mobile announced this morning that MTV Network has entered a strategic alliance witht the firm to provide entertainment content to 3G wireless platforms. Amp'd Mobile, a wireless firm centered around the youth market, will carry original content from MTV, including Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, CMT, Spike TV, and MTV's other properties.
