Google Buys dMarc Broadcasting, Deal Potentially Worth Over $1B
Mountain View-based search engine giant Google this morning said that it has agreed to acquired Newport Beach-based dMarc Broadcasting, in a deal worth $102M plus $1.136 billion in contingent payments over the next 3 years. Google said that it will incorporate dMarc technology into the Google AdWords platform, to create a new radio ad distribution channel for Google advertisers. dMarc provides technology for connecting advertisers to radio stations through an automated advertising platform. SOA Gets Into Consulting
Santa Monica-based SOA Software said today that it is expandings its consulting business. The firm said that it will provide consulting for the adoption of web services/SOA. SOA Software has been developing products for managing web services and service oriented architecture (SOA) in the enterprise. The company said that it was expanding its staff and focus on consulting, and has also named two additional executives to head up its consulting practice.

AWR Upgrades RF Design Software
El Segundo-based Applied Wave Research, a provider of high frequency electronic design automation software has upgraded its design software. The company said that it has upgraded its Visual System Simulator 2006 circuit design software. The upgraded software provides upgraded RF budget analysis features, new models, and better system analysis features. AWR's software is used for design of 3G WCDMA, 802.11 WLAN, and GSM and other wireless semiconductors.

ACADIA Pharmaceutical Gets Equity Injection
San Diego-based Acadia Pharmaceuticals has received a new, $10M equity investment from its partner, Separacor. Acadia said that Sepracor completed the purchase of $10M of Acadia common stock, and issued 813,393 shares of ACADIA common stock as a part of the transaction. Acadia is developing treatments for central nervous system (CNS) disorders. The firms are collaborating on combining Acadia's compounds with Sepracor's Lunesta sleep aid product.

MRV, EdenTree Partner On Automated Test Lab Solutions
Chatsworth-based MRV Communications and Camarillo-based EdenTree have inked a deal where MRV will resell EdenTree's lab management software, alongside its Media Cross Connect products. MRV said that it will target the joint solution at automating test labs for network equipment manufacturers, service providers, and enterprises. Streamload Raises Storage Limits
San Diego-based Streamload, a provider of online digital media storage, said Monday that it has upgraded its available storage for users to 25 GB of online storage. The firm said that its standard subscribers now get up to 25GB of storage on its free service, with the ability to upgrade to 250GB of online storage space for $9.95 per month. Ocera Therapeutics Finds $14.5M
San Diego-based Ocera Therapeutics, a new company focused on biopharmaceuticals for the treatment of gastrointestinal and liver disease, said this morning that it has raised $14.5M in a Series A funding. The funding came from Domain Associates and Thomas, McNerney and Partners. The company said that it has licensed its leading clinical candidate to Kureha Corp. in Japan and filed and IND with the FDA. The firm will use the funding to initiate clincal trails for the treatment of Crohn's disease.

SKY MobileMedia Raises $15M
San Diego-based SKY MobileMedia has raised $15M in a Series B round of funding. The round was led by Sid R. Bass Associates, and included participation by previous investor Enterprise Partners Venture Capital. This round of funding brings SKY's total raised to more than $21.25M. SKY is developing application software platforms for mobile wireless handsets.
