ProfitLine Appoints VP
San Diego-based ProfitLine has appointed a new executive. The firm said that it has appointed Andreas Schenck as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Schenck has served at Nobel LLC, Digiquant.Intec, and LHS Group. ProfitLine provides telecom expense management services for enterprises, and is backed by FTVentures and Menlo Ventures.

dMarc Broadcasting Gets Win
Newport Beach-based dMarc Broadcasting, the firm which is being acquired by Google for over $1B, reported today that it has scored a win with Emmis Communications for its automated advertising solution. Emmis will tap dMarc's RevenueSuite software to automatically insert paid commercials into open and unsold slots. Emmis operates Power 106 in Los Angeles, a hip-hop radio station, along with 26 other stations. Emmis said that it is using the dMarc system at its two Los Angeles stations and plans (More info...)

NSA Gives Advice On Editing Documents
The National Security Agency has just released a new guide to government agencies and others on editing electronic documents for release to the public. The agency is pointing out in a new report that there are specific steps in electronic documents that need to be taken to ensure there is not secret or confidential data released, including deletion of data and removal of meta-data information. TCA Awards Fast Pitch Winners
The Tech Coast Angels held their annual Fast Pitch contest last night in Westwood at the UCLA Anderson School of Business, awarding three winners for their ability to provide a 60-second "elevator" pitch to a panel of angels and venture capitalists. Winning the top spots for both their presentations and potential investment quality were Immunochemistry Technologies and RA Medical Systems, who tied in their scores. PwC MoneyTree Released, First Time Deals At Four Year Highs
The latest PricewaterhouseCoopers MoneyTree Survey was released yesterday, showing that first time deals have hit four year highs. The firm said that there was $21.7B invested in 2,939 deals in 2005. The quarterly MoneyTree report, which was released by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Thomson Venture Economics, and the National Venture Capital Association, and showed the first increase in venture capital investment in three years.
