Boost Mobile Ties Into Meijer Retail Stores
Irvine-based Boost Mobile has inked a deal to distribute its products through Meijer, a retail chain the Midwest. Boost said that Meijer's 160 retail stores will offer Boost Mobile's wireless phones and service, along with carrying the firm's prepaid wireless recharge cards. Boost Mobile provides prepaid cellular, targeted at the youth market. Boost is a subsidiary of Sprint Nextel.

PureVideo, Starcom in Deal
PureVideo, a El Segundo-based distributor of online sports and entertainment video, said yseterday that Starcom USA has teamed with the firm to provide ad-supported video downloads for mobile devices. Starcom's client, Nintendo, will be a featured advertiser for free video footage of surfing competitions. The ad supported videos will be available on PureVideo's GrindTV web site, for download to Apple iPod, Microsoft SmartPhone, and other mobile devices. PFSweb, eCOST Complete Merger
Torrance-based eCOST.com, an online retailer of discount electronics and other products, has completed its merger with PFSweb. The two companies said that both set of shareholders approved the merger at a special meeting last week, in a one for one stock swap. The companies said that expect a $4 to $5M annual cost savings from the merger. PFSweb is a provider of third party logistics, call center support, and outsource e-commerce services.

Jambo Rolls Out Ad Network
Calabasas-based Jambo, which is developing pay-per-call capability for local Internet advertisers, said yesterday that it has started a new advertising network brand for its network of search engines, portals, and directories. The Jambo Advertising Network will provide information about local businesses, locations, hours, and other information to search engines and others. Ixia Completes Video Test Acquisition
Calabasas-based Ixia today said that it has completed its acquisition of Dilithium Networks, a provider of video telephony test products. The total for the acquisition was $5.1M, which was announced earlier this year. Ixia will roll out a new family of test tools, IxMobile, based on the Dilithium software. The tools will focus on mobile wireless testing, including wireless performance, interoperability, and capacity testing.

Tarari Finds $14M
San Diego-based Tarari has raised $14M in a Series C round of funding. The new round of funding was led by Enterprise Partners Venture Capital, and included participation by the company's other existing investors, Crosspoint Venture Capital, Morgan Stanley Venture Partners, Miramar Venture Partners, and XMLFund. EFF Sues AT&T Over Illegal Wiretapping
The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) filed a lawsuit against AT&T yesterday, over what it says is the company's collaboration with the National Security Agency (NSA) to illegally wiretap and data-mine Americans' communications. The EFF, which is known for its legal activity in the civil liberties area, said that AT&T had vioalted the law and privacy of its customers by collaborating with the NSA.
