CADFORCE Raises $1.7M
Los Angeles-based CADFORCE, a provider of outsourced CAD drafting services, has received a round of venture funding from Rincon Venture Partners and the Tech Coast Angels. Rincon, a Santa Barbara-based venture capital firm, led the round. Jim Andelman of Rincon will join the firm's board, along with Doulgas Webster, VP Mergers and acquisitions at MCI. Sanyo, Nokia Create Joint Venture In San Diego
Sanyo and Nokia have announced that they are creating a new, joint venture in San Diego. The two firms said they are combining their CDMA mobile phone operations, with operations in San Diego, Osaka, and Tottori Japan. The two firms said that they expect the joint venture to achieve a leading position within the global CDMA mobile phones market. Sanyo said that the will transfer its development, production and sales operations related to CDMA2000 phones to the joint venture.

Siderean Names New Execs
El Segundo-based Siderean Software, a provider of software for digital content navigation, said today that it has named two new vice presidents. Siderean said that it named Brian Anderson as VP of Marketing, and Jack Berkowitz as VP of Engineering. Anderson was most recently chief marketing officer at Avamar Technologies, and has also served at Access360 and HNC Software. Continuous Computing Shuffles Execs
San Diego-based Continuous Computing, a provider of software and equipment for telecom equipment manufacturers, said Monday that it has named PJ Go as CEO, and appointed Randy Lunn as Chairman of the firm. Go has been serving as interim CEO of the firm. Lunn is a founding partner of Palomar Ventures, and was previously on the board. Massachusetts Firm Buys Project.net
Integrated Computer Solutions, a Massachusetts-based software firm, has acquired San Diego-based Project.net, a provider of open source software for project and portfolio management. Terms were not disclosed. Project.net is a commercial open source package targeted at software and project management. ICS said that Project.net's current customers include Amazon.com, Shopzilla.com, Cornell University, and Bankers life. Worldlink Integration Group Gets Funding
Alerion Capital Group, a private equity firm based in Scottsdale, Arizona, is reporting that it has made an investment in Aliso Viejo-based Worldlink Integration Group. Worldlink provides technology deployment outsourcing services to major national retailers, including Petco, Jack in the Box, and Sears. Amount of the investment was not disclosed. Worldlink deploys point of sale and other technology for retailers, outsourcing the installation of those technology platforms.

SIPphone Gets $6M
San Diego-based SIPphone has raised $6M in a round of venture capital, the firm said today SIPphone, which is developing open source voice over IP (VOIP) software, said that it received the funding from Dawntreader Ventures, and would use the funding to expand the firm's SIP services to non-PC devices such as adapters, routers, WiFi handsets, and dual mode mobile phones. The company also said that it expects to triple in size over the next year wtih hires in business development and engineering. (More info...)
