DATAllegro In Data Warehouse Alliance
Aliso Viejo-based DATAllegro, a provider of data warehousing appliances, announced this morning that it has joined Informatica's alliance program. The company's data warehousing appliances now integrate with Informatica's data integration platform. Informatica's migration and data movement software can now provide information directly to DATAllegro's data warehouse appliances. Datallegro's data warehouse appliance offers faster performance for data warehouse queries.

SIPphone Offers Free Landline Numbers
San Diego-based SIPphone, the voice-over-IP firm that leverages the open source Gizmo project to provide VOIP connectivity, said today that it will start offering free, U.S. telephone numbers for any computer. The firm said that the service would offer voicemail and call screening for free in the 775 area code, and also offer a $3.95 per month plan for phone numbers in other U.S. area codes. MPAA Files Suit Against eBay Pirates
The Motion Picture Association of America said this week that it has filed seven lawsuits against eBay users who were selling counterfeit DVDs on the auction service. The group said that it has filed lawsuits in a Los Angeles federal court against individuals in California, Illinois, New York, and Texas. The lawsuit alleges that the eBay users were selling counterfeit DVDs of Million Dollar Baby, Batman Begins, Scooby Doo, Stealth, 13 Going on 30, Ice Age and Sideways. Helio Announces Handsets, 3G Service Partnership With MySpace
Los Angeles-based Helio, the joint venture between SK Telecom and Earthlink, has announced two new custom handsets associated with its service. The company said that its two new multimedia handsets, the Hero and Kickflip, will provide high speed 3G to U.S. consumers. The new handsets will be tied into MySpace, and feature high resolution LCD displays, duplex stereo speakers, and built in cell phone cameras. QLogic Buys PathScale For $109M
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic, a developer of Fibre Channel host bus adapters and switches, said yesterday afternoon that it is acquiring PathScale, a developer of Infiniband technology. QLogic said that it will pay approximately $109M in cash, along with assuming the outstanding unvested stock options of PathScale. PathScale is a provider of Host Channel Adapters (HCAs) and software for the Infiniband high performance fabric interconnect, used for clustering and blade servers.
