Angel Group Head Leaves, Forms New Group
A new angel group, headed by former Keiretsu Forum Los Angeles head John Dilts, is forming in Los Angeles. John Dilts, who headed up the Keiretsu Forum's Los Angeles and Westlake efforts, left the Keiretsu Forum last week to form the new group. The new group, Maverick Angels, is expected to formally launch next week and start holding meetings in March.

eBay Launches GigaMoves
eBay's Rent.com subsidiary has launched a new company, GigaMoves, to target the online lead generation market for moving companies. The new company is an online lead-generation service that connects customers with moving companies, as well as providing account management, pay-per-lead pricing, and tracking of leads. iTunes Downloads Hit 1 Billion Songs
Apple Computer is reporting that it has delivered over 1 billion downloads from its iTunes Music Store. Apple said that it now has over 3,500 music videos, 35,000 podcasts, 16,000 audiobooks, and more than two million songs in its catalog. As part of the milestone, Apple said that it awarded the 1 billionth downloader, Alex Ostrovsky, with a new iMac, 10 iPods, and a $10,000 gift card, plus establishing a scholarship at Juilliard School of music in his name. USC Gets $25M For Stem Cell Research
The University of Southern California has received a $25 million gift from the Broad Foundation, for the construction of a stem cell research institute on the University's Health Sciences campus. USC said yesterday that the Broad Foundation, founded by Eli and Edythe Broad, would give the gift for the construction of a 215,000 square foot facility for stem cell research and integrative biology.
