Vitesse Targets 10GBASE-LRM
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor has rolled out a new, 10 GbE LRM chip set. Vitesse said today at the OFC/NFOEC conference that its new chip supports the IEEE 802.3aq, 10GBASE-LRM standard, used to provide 10Gigabit Ethernet transmission of low cost multimode fiber. The chip set also includes a complete reference design for the component. Vitesse said that the chipset provides peformance and cost improvements over competing solutions.

eEye Targets Citrix
Aliso Viejo-based eEye Digital Security today said that it has joined the Citrix Alliance Program and rolled out new, risk management software for the Citrix Access Suite. eEye said that it now enables enterprises to scan remote machines for vulnerabilities and malware, with a version of its software specifically tailored for Citrix server environments. The Citrix Access Gateway is a SSL VPN appliance used for Citrix environments, and has been integrated with eEye's Retina Network Security Scann (More info...)

Fandango, Sprint Launch Mobile Movie Ticketing
Los Angeles-based Fandango and mobile carrier Sprint are rolling out a new, mobile movie ticketing service this morning. The two companies said today that Fandango's movie ticketing, information, and text-messaging services are now available from Sprint and Nextel phones. Fandango's new service allows users to purchase movie tickets, access movie information and reviews, browse showtimes, as well as tap into movie related ringtones and other features. THQ Buys UK Development Studio
Agoura Hills-based THQ has purchased another developer in the video games space. The firm has acquired Juice Games Ltd., a developer of PS/2, Xbox, and Windows PC software. Juice is the developer of a popular street racing game. Colin Bell, former managing director of Juice Games will be general manager of the firm. Financial terms were not disclosed. Juice employs over 50 staff in its UK offices. THQ is a developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software.

Nereus Pharmaceuticals Closes Second Tranche Funding
San Diego-based Nereus Pharmaceuticals is reporting this morning that it has closed the second tranche of its Series D preferred stock funding. The firm said that it received $18.3M of the previously reported $42.6M in funding, and disclosing that the original close of the funding in December of 2004 was worth $24.3M. Lead investors in the tranche were HBM BioVentures Ltd. and HBM BioCapital LP, and the round included participation by Alta Partners, Forward Ventures, Pacific Venture Group, Novar (More info...)
