Internet Brands Acquires Client Shop
Los Angeles-based Internet Brands has acquired Client Shop, an online mortgage lead provider. Terms were not disclosed. Internet Brands said this morning that it will integrate Client Shop into its Los Angeles headquarters, in an expansion of its Home Finance Division. Client Shop was based in San Diego, and operateds the Clientshop.com, QuoteMe.com, and 4LowRates.com web sites. Net Searchers Making Purchases Offline
comScore Networks is reporting today that a new study of online search behavior shows that 63 percent of search-related purchases occur at offline, retail stores. The new study, commissioned by Google, examined the impact of Web searches online and offline during November and December. The study found that the highest rates of buyers who make purchases offline was in the video games and console category, followed by toys and hobbies. MP3tunes Launches Music Directory
San Diego-based MP3tunes has launched a new music directory site called Sideload.com, the firm said this week. The new service points users to music files stored on the Internet, and allows them to load them into their own storage lockers on the MP3tunes web site. Tracks listed in the service this morning included tracks from U2, Aerosmith, The Police, and other popular artists. SpecificMEDIA Launches Ad Targeting Technology
Irvine-based SpecificMEDIA this morning announced the launch of a new, contextual targeting solution this morning, focused on honing Internet ad presentation for advertisers. The firm said that its advertising network allows advertisers to purchase display or text ad on a network of more than 450 branded sites, with ability to target content categories, subcategories, and keywords. SpecificMEDIA said that its network reaches such brands as ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, ESPN, and Major League Baseball.

BIOCOM, CONNECT Launch Life Sciences Accelerator
San Diego-based BIOCOM and CONNECT, two of the area's dominant organizations for the biotechnology industry, have launched a new business targeted at technology startups. The two groups said that they have a committee called the San Diego Life Science Accelerator (SD-LSA) which looks to fund and mentor new technology companies. Vanguard Voice Names Director
Rancho Santa Margarita-based Vanguard Voice announced this morning that it has appointed Walt Straub, former co-founder of Rainbow Technologies, to its board. vanguard Voice Systems is a devleoper of software for adding speech to mobile platforms and desktop computers. Straub also serves on the board of directors for SafeNet and CAM Commerce Solutions.
