Networks In Motion Raises $10M
Irvine-based Networks In Motion has raised $10M in a Series C funding round, the company said yesterday afternoon. The new round of funding was led by Sutter Hill Ventures, and also included prior investors Redpoint Ventures and Mission Ventures. Networks In Motion said that it would use the new funding to expand its research and development, as well as sales and marketing. Networks In Motion is developing location-based services based on GPS-enabled cellular phones.

Accordent Raises $4M
Hermosa Beach-based Accordent Technologies has raised $4M in a Series A funding from TVC Ventures, the firm is announcing today. Accordent Technologies is developing presentation software for managing rich and streaming media for webcasts. As a part of the funding round, Steve Hamerslag and Jeb S. Spencer of TVC will join the firm's board. San Diego-based TVC was formerly known as Titan Investment Partners. Evite, Shutterfly Partner On Photo Sharing
West Hollywood-based Evite.com has partnered with online photo site Shutterfly to tie together event photos with Evite.com's event planning services. The two companies are working together to allow users to order prints and created customized gifts based on photos captured at events. Evite.com said that the tie-in is part of a relaunch of the firm's web site. Evite.com provides social event planning tools such as online invitation tracking and checklists, and is owned by IAC/InterActiveCorp.

Qualcomm Sues Broadcom, Again
San Diego-based Qualcomm has filed another patent infringement suit against Broadcom, the firm is reporting today. Qualcomm said today that it has filed a complaint against Broadcom for trade secret misappropriation and patent infringement over development and marketing of WCDMA baseband integrated circuit products and the multimedia capabilities. Qualcomm said that it is seeking an injunction prohibiting Broadocm from continuing to use its intellectual property. The lawsuit is the third brought (More info...)

Bid4Spots Gets Win With LPGA
Encino-based Bid4Spots, an online marketplace for unsold radio ad inventory, has scored a win with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). The firm reported today that the LPGA will use its reverse auction services to promote its national telecast of the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Bid4Spots competes against such systems as Newport Beach-based dMarc Broadcasting, which was purchased by Google earlier this year.

Conexant Expands Fiber Optic Chip Line
Newport Beach-based Conexant has rolled out a new family of system-on-a-chip (SoC) products tageted at passive optical networks. The firm said today that its new CX9520X "Xenon II" controllers are focused on fiber to the premises and multi-dwelling unit applications, used to connect up service providers with homes and businesses. The new chips support voice over Internet Protocl (VoIP), IP multicasting, and connect with Conexant's DSL chipsets.
