Interview with Jim McDermott, US Renewables Group
Jim McDermott is CEO of US Renewables Group, a developer and investor in renewable energy and clean fuel technology, including methane energy systems and biomass energy. Jim is best known for founding Stamps.com, which went public in 1999, and also founded Archive, Inc., which he also successful sold to another firm. TV Guide Goes Mobile
Los Angeles-based Gemstar-TV Guide International has rolled out a new, mobile version of its Tv Guide interactive program guide technology, the firm said today. TV Guide Mobile Entertainment has introduced a new, interactive programming guide designed for use on mobile devices. The new service provides local program listings and television show information. LSI Logic, QLogic Target SMBs
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic and LSI Logic are targeting small and medium business users with a new storage offering this week. The two announced at Storage Networking World in San Diego that the two companies will collaborate on a storage area network (SAN) solution for small and medium businesses. The new offering will be delivered through IBM, and includes DS4000 storage from IBM, and switches, host bus adapters, and management software from QLogic. Sony Online Entertainment, Planetwide Games Collaborate Online
San Diego-based Sony Online Entertainment and Costa Mesa-based Planetwide Games announced this morning that the two companies will collaborate on a web-based version of Planetwide's Comic Book Creator. The software will be provided as part of Sony's online game subscription service this summer. Planetwide Games' software allows capture of game screenshots, DVD movies, digital photos, and ability to create personalized comic books. Amp'd, Soapbox In Movie Ticketing Deal
Los Angeles-based Amp'd Mobile and San Diego-based Soapbox Mobile are in a deal to provide movie ticket purchases using Soapbox Mobile's applications. The two companies said today that subscribers to Amp'd Mobile's youth-oriented MVNO will have access to Soapbox Mobile's Anywhere and MoneyClip applications, which allow for the ability to find and purchase movie tickets. WebSideStory Adds MultiMedia Analytics
San Diego-based WebSideStory has upgraded its web analytics software to provide tracking of multimedia. WebSideStory said today that its new HBX Analytics 3.5 package can now track streaming media and mobile devices behavior, expanding beyond its traditional tracking of HTML content. The new features of the software include ability to quantify the audience for streamining audio and video content, including tracking of views, completion rates, and duration of viewing. DataLabs Targets Research Organizations
Irvine-based DataLabs is introducing a new clinical data management system this week, targeting contract research organizations. Datalabs said this week that its new DataLabs Clinical CRO Edition provides a clinical data management system for managing clinical trials. The software is designed to help data capture and data management for contract research organizations, and is based on browser and we-based technology.
