Market Wire Acquired by CCNMatthews
Los Angeles-based Market Wire has been quietly acquired by a Canadian newswire company, in an all cash deal. The acquisition was announced earlier this month. CCNMatthews is a provider of newswire distribution in Canada. The companies said that CCNMatthews has acquired all of Market Wire's stock in an all-cash deal. San Diego Man Charged With Hacking USC Computers
A computer network administrator has been charged for hacking into a the University of Southern California's college applicant database, according to the U.S. Attorney in Los Angeles. Eric McCarty, a 25-year old compuer system administrator in San Diego, was charged with hacking into USC's college applicant database. Vitesse Cancels Earning Call, Suspends CEO/CFO
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor last night announced that it has cancelled its earning call, and has suspended Louis Tomasetta, its CEO, Yatin Mody, its CFO, and EVP Eugene Hovanec. The company said in a terse statement that as a result of an ongoing investigation by a Special Committee of its Board of Directors, it will be unable to file its 10-Q, and will not be holding a earnings call. Ixia Announces Results
Calabasas-based Ixia announced first quarter results yesterday, saying that the firm earned $489,000 on revenues of $38.9M. The year to year growth was essentially flat, up 1 percent from the similar period last year. The company said that the first quarter was a challenging one, but that it signed up over 70 new customers and had strong results in China and India. Citysearch Appoints VP
West Hollywood-based Citysearch, which is owned by IAC/Interactive, said this week that it has appointed a new Executive Vice President of Product and Marketing. Citysearch said that it has named Scott Morrow to the position. Morrow was most recently at CNET Networks, where he served as VP Marketing and Sales for Download.com. He has also served at Whittle Communications. The firm said that it has appointed a marketing and PR agency in conjunction with Morrow's appointment.
