Behavioral Targeting Gets Hot
Behavioral targeting, the use of web site clickstream information to target advertising and other information, is getting hot, as several providers of web analytics and web advertising announced this morning that they have launched behavioral targeting solutions. Westlake Village-based ValueClick and San Diego-based WebSideStory both announced behavioral targeting functionality today. Siderean Upgrades Search Software
El Segudno-based Siderean Software, a provider of search navigation technology, announced this morning that it has released version 4.0 of its Seamark Navigator product. The new release adds the ability to integrate Siderean's search navigation tools with results from Google's Search Appliance and Oracle's Secure Enterprise Search products, better security, ability for users to tag results and content, and other features. Conexant Gets Set Top Win
Newport Beach-based Conexant, a provider of semiconductors for the communications and other markets, has scored a win at Humax. The firm said today that it Humax, an international manufacturer of digital satellite set-top boxes, has based its HDTV set-top box on Conexant's MPEG-4 satellite set-top box design. The set top boxes will be put into production by a German broadcasting firm this summer. Farstone, Linspire Provide Personal Disaster Recovery Software
San Diego-based Linspire, and Irvine-based FarStone technology are announcing today that the two will offer a Linux version of Farstone's personal disaster recovery software. Linspire, a provider of a Windows-like Linux operating system distribution, and Farstone, a developer of data backup and recovery software, are partnering to provide a Linux version of Farstone's RestoreIT product. BakBone Upgrades MySQL Support Module
San Diego-based BakBone Software, a provider of backup software, has upgraded its plug in for MySQL users. BakBone said today that its updated backup application module for MySQL provides the ability for users to back up MySQL open source databases. The product allows table-level backup of MySQL databases, and is certified as part of MySQL's certified partner program.
