TherMark Gets $1.7M
Los Angeles-based TherMark Holdings has received $1.7M in a venture funding round from the Pasadena Angels and the Tech Coast Angels, the firm said this morning. TherMark is developing technology for placing photographic quality serial numbers and information on hard surfaces, including glass, metal, ceramic, and plastics. The firm was assisted by Momentum Venture Management as part of the deal. TherMark said that Matt Ridenour of Momentum will join TherMark as its CEO.

Southern California Sees Surge of VC Investment
PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association released their Q1 venture capital numbers today, following the VentureOne/Ernst & Young Venture Capital report release yesterday. Both surveys showed an increase in investment for the quarter, with PWC's MoneyTree report showing $5.6B invested in 761 deals last quarter, and E&Y's Venture Capital Report showing $6.02B invested in 564 deals. PhotoThera Raises $30.5M
Carlsbad-based PhotoThera has raised $30.5M in Series C venture funding. Investment came from Delphi Ventures, DeNovo Ventures, Hamilton BioVentures, Warburg Pincus, The Vertical Group, and Solstice Capital. PhotoThera is developing technology that uses infrared lasers to treat ischemic stroke.

Goowy Announces Investment By Mark Cuban
San Diego-based Goowy Media, a developer of Web 2.0 sharing applications, said this morning that it has received a major strategic financing round from Mark Cuban. Goowy said that Cuban had made an investment in the company, which wuld be used for fueling the ongoing expansion of the company's user base and to enhance its services. Linksys Rolls Out 802.11n Products
Irvine-based Linksys has rolled out new, 802.11n draft specification hardware, with a complete line of 802.11n products. The new products implement the still draft 802.11n wireless specification, which raises wireless rates to up to 100 megabits per second. 802.11n promises to provide support for wireless video, and is as fast as or faster than most Ethernet connections today. Linspire Rolls Out Free Linux Version
San Diego-based Linspire, a provider of desktop Linux operating systems, is announcing today at the Annual Desktop Linux Summit that it has rolled out a new, free version of the Linux OS. Linspire will roll out "Freespire", a version of the Linux operating system that is free of charge and supported through an open source process. Revenue.net Adds Self Service Media
Los Angeles-based Revenue.net, Oversee.net's display ad and CPA search network, said today that it has added a self service, rich-media program for publishers and advertisers. The company said that the new program allows its publishers to start serving rich media ads such as floating ads, and eventually interstitials and in-stream video ads. Revenue.net's new program makes it possible for smaller publishers to access rich media ads.

Reunion.com Claims 25 Million Members
Los Angeles-based Reunion.com, a web site that allows people to connect with friends and classmates, said today that it has hit the 25 million member mark. The firm claims that it is signing up to 40,000 new members every day for its online community. Reunion.com is backed by Richard Rosenblatt, former CEO of Intermix Media (parent firm of MySpace.com), Steve Newman, of GreatDomains.com, and Andy Mazzarella, former CFO of iMall.
