I've recently been looking around at Web 2.0 companies, the companies and often just projects that are helping to pave the next generation of the Internet. I happened to run across The Black Stripe (www.theblackstripe.com), a web site that is getting some buzz in Web 2.0 circles. The Black Stripe allows for collaboration and sharing of photos, stories, blogs, and other information with friends, and I discovered that the site was based in Los Angeles. Vitesse To Restate Results
Camarillo-based Vitesse said late yesterday that its financial statements for the three months ending December 31, and the prior three years should not be relied upon, and that it has engaged an external firm to provide an acting CFO. Vitesse had announced last week that it had suspended its CEO and CFO over irregularities in stock option grants. DuPont Makes OLED Breakthrough
Dupont announced yesterday that it has made a significant technology breakthrough in the area of organic, light-emitting diodes. The firm said that its researchers in Santa Barbara, California and Wilmington, Delaware have made a breakthrough in commercialization of OLEDs for next generation flat panel displays. Amp'd Goes Surfing
Los Angeles-based MVNO Amp'd Mobile continues to sign up additional content providers, saying yesterday that it is simulcasting the Body Glove Surfbout finals to its subscribers. Amp'd Mobile said yesterday that it will simulcast the event to its subscribers mobile phones, and at the same time launch a service that will allow mobile subscribers to get access to nineteen live wave cameras at major surf breaks. Gizmo Project Adds Conference Calling
San Diego-based SIPphone has tapped Vapps, a provider of VoIP conference calling, to provide free conference calling services for users of the Gizmo project, an open-source, SIP-based voice over IP calling service. Vapps said that its conference calling service will enable Gizmo subscribers to connect multiple users over the Internet. Vapps platform provides traditional conference calling features such as participant management.

RF Magic Names VP
San Diego-based RF Magic, a provider of integrated RF chips for the broadband market, said that it has named a new VP of Sales. RF Magic said that it has named Gordon Schenk as VP of Worldwide Sales. Schenk has served at Infineon, Mobilian, Quorom Systems, and Provigent. RF Magic provides silicon for digital broadcast satellite, set top boxes, and fixed wireless systems.
