Activision Buys Game Publisher
Santa Monica-based Activision said today that it has purchased RedOctane, a video game publisher. Terms were not disclosed. RedOctane is the publisher of Guitar Hero, a video game for the PlayStation entertainment system. Guidar Hero allows game players to be the lead guitarist of their own rock and roll band, and includes a guitar-shaped controller. RedOctane is based in Sunnyvale, California.

E3 Expo Kicks Off At Convention Center
The E3 Expo kicks off today at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The event, the video game industry's annual gathering, is expected to attract more than 400 exhibitors and tens of thousands of video gaming fans and industry insiders. Last year's E3 Expo attracted over 70,000 attendees. Sony announced the PlayStation 3 Monday evening, and hundreds of new games, hardware products, and accessories are expected to be unveiled today and throughout the week.

Qualcomm Tests MediaFLO In The UK
San Diego-based Qualcomm reports today that it is rolling out Qualcomm's MediaFLO technology in the UK with British Sky Broadcasting Limited (BSkyB). Qualcomm said that the two companies have signed a nonbinding letter of intent to conduct technical trials of its high speed content delivery network in the United Kingdom. Warner Bros. To Use BitTorrent
Burbank-based Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has inked a deal to use the peer to peer file swapping network, BitTorrent, to sell its motion picture and television content. The move is the first of a major studio to partner with the BitTorrent publishing platform, and follows an agreement by BitTorrent with the Motion Picture Assocation of America (MPAA) to prevent film piracy on its network. Experclick Adds VP
Carpinteria-based Experclick has added a new, Vice President of Sales. The firm said today that John Beck has joined the company, to lead its sales staff. Experclick is developing an online, auction-based ad network. Beck joins from Intermix, where he was Vice President of Sales Development. Beck has also served at Buzztone, Dedication Channel, iMall, and R&R Advertising.

Bluebeam Upgrades PDF Software
Pasadena-based Bluebeam Software has upgraded its PDF conversion software to revision 2.0, saying today that the software now supports conversion of CAD documents to PDF and 10 other file formats. Bluebeam's conversion server software automatically converts CAD and Windows files for users on a file folder or network drive. Bluebeam's software is used by architects and engineers to share their design files.

I would like to introduce you to the MBA program with a
concentration in Information Security hosted by James Madison
University. This program is primarily on-line with four hours of
face2face meetings at the beginning and ending of each course.
These meetings are held on Saturdays in the Washington DC area.

The news is that this same program is coming to Los Angeles
