TechTarget Acquires 2020software.com
Needham, Massachusetts-based media publisher TechTarget said today that it has acquired Los Angeles-based 20/20 Software, developer of 2020software.com, a web site that provides feature comparisons and access to trial software for small and medium-sized businesses. Terms were not disclosed. TechTarget said that it will operate 2020software.com as a site within TechTarget's network of sites for IT buyers. AudioCodes Buys Nuera Communications For $85M
San Diego-based Nuera Communications has been acquired for $85M in cash, according to AudioCodes, an Israeli Voice-over-IP firm. LightPointe Shuts Down
San Diego-based LightPointe Communications has shut its doors, according to sources close to the company. LightPointe was developing free space optic systems for connecting campuses and last-mile connections, and had received over 4 rounds of funding from Cisco, Ampersand Ventures, Corning Innovation Ventures, GATX, Huawei, Sevin Rosen, and others. Linksys Ships VoIP Phones
Irvine-based Linksys has shipped two, new Voice-over-IP (VoIP) phones, saying yesterday that the phones are the first of a new line of wireless IP telephony products from the company. Linksys, which is a division of Cisco Systems, said that its WIP300 and WIP330 phones are designed to make low-cost voice over IP calls through 802.11g wireless networks. Boingo Launches Open Source WiFi Toolkit
Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless has launched a new, open source initiative, launching a new, Wi-Fi toolkit that allows device manufacturers to design software to connect into its Wi-Fi network. Boingo said yesterday that its new open source initiative was released on the popular SourceForge open source development portal. Blackball Integrates With NAS
San Diego-based BlackBall, a provider of unstructured data management software, said today that Newisys, a provider of network attached storage, will integrate its software with a NAS appliance. BlackBall and Newisys said that BlackBall's SearchIn desktop search application will be integrated with the Newisys NA-1400 Network Attached Storage (NAS) Appliance. Akonix, Microsoft Look For "Bot" Creators

Vigilistics Hires Operations Expert
Mission Viejo-based Vigilistics, a provider of software for the food processing industry, said today it has hired a new director of operations. The firm said that it has hired Ron Huffman to the position. Huffman joins from Bimbo Bakeries. Vigilistics designs software for compliance tracking for the food processing and dairy industry.
