Kleiner Invests In Altra
Los Angeles-based Altra, a biofuel firm acquiring and operating ethanol production plants, has received $50M in venture investment from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, The Angeleno Group, Khosla Ventures, Omninet Private Equity and Sage Capital Partners. Kleiner announced the investment yesterday, in conjunction with a new "Green Innovation" prize it has established to encourage green technology. CaseStack, AtomicBox Merge
Santa Monica-based CaseStack and AtomicBox Logistics are merging, the two companies said today. UCI, Unisys Collaborate On Software Development
UC Irvine and Unisys are collaborating on software development research, the two organizations said this week. Unisys said that it was in a collaborative research agreement with the University of California, Irvine Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences to explore development of requirement- and rules-driven software. Vitesse Gets Subpoena
Things have taken a further turn downhill at Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor, with the disclosure last night that the firm has received a grand jury subpoena from the office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Vitesse said last night that it has received a request for documents from 1999 through the present referring to, relating to, or involving the granting of stock options. Quest Supports SharePoint
Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software is supporting Microsoft's popular SharePoint portal software, the company said this week at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2006. Quest said that it will support the SharePoint software later this year by providing management and reporting capabilities on SharePoint installations. BidShift Gets Customer Wins
San Diego-based BidShift has scored a number of new wins for its workforce management systems, saying this week that it has signed four new hospitals as customers.
