Boeing Eyes Connexion Sale
Boeing is eyeing the sale of its Connexion Internet access service, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal today. Irvine-based Connexion by Boeing develops systems that allow passengers to connect to the Internet via a high speed satellite link. The in-flight Internet service, which is currently in use on Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, and Singapore Airlines, has not seen demand from U.S. airlines, the report said. Konami Buys Los Angeles Mobile Content Company
Konami Digital Entertainment has acquired Blue Label Interactive, a Los Angeles-based developer of mobile entertainment content. Financial terms were not disclosed. Konami said it acquired Blue Label Interactive for its technology tools and programming expertise in the mobile entertainment area. The firm said that it believes that the mobile, console, and online content categories are converging and that the acquisition will allow it to remain at the forefront of the mobile entertainment area. Gemstar-TV Guide Buys Online Web Site
Los Angeles-based Gemstar-TV Guide International has made an acquisition, saying this morning that it has acquired Jump The Shark, which runs jumptheshark.com, an online Internet site which follows popular television programs. Global ePoint Acquires Video Surveillance Provider
City of Industry-based Global ePoint, a manufacturer of security technology and digital video surveillance systems, said today that it has purchased Tops Digital Security, an Ontario, California-based video surveillance system provider. Terms were not disclosed. Tops provides enterprise video surveillance systems used in commercial, industrial, and government security markets. Activision Expands In Seoul
Santa Monica-based Activision is expanding its international capability with a new office is Seoul, Korea, the company announced Wednesday. Activision said that it has opened a publishing office in Seoul, through the acquisition of CSR Entertainment, a software distributor. CSR Entertainment is a Korean software distributor, which previously distributed Activision's products. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Mixed Signals Expands Board
Los Angeles-based Mixed Signals, a provider of digital content monitoring systems, said that it has expanded its board. It has appointed Al Nunez of Tandberg Television to its board of directors. Mixed Signals is funded by Maverick Capital, Palomar Ventures, and RRE. Jambo, Bid4Spots Partner
Agoura Hills-based Jambo, and Encino-based Bid4Spots have partnered together to tie Jambo's pay-per-call solution with the Bid4Spots online reverse auction systems for radio spots. The two companies said this week that the two are working together to launch a test program to use radio ads to drive phone leads to Jambo's Pay-Per-Call advertisers. Smith Micro Revs Anti-Spyware Tools
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software, a provider of utility software for Windows and Macintosh platforms, said this week that it has upgraded its Internet Cleanup software for both the PC and Mac platforms. LeadPoint Signs Deal With Ellie Mae
Los Angeles-based LeadPoint, an online marketplace for leads, has signed a deal with Ellie Mae to integrate its leads system into Ellie Mae's mortgage automation system. LeadPoint said earlier this week that the two companies will co-market the LeadPoint platform to Ellie Mae's network of mortgage brokers. Brokers will be able to tap into mortgage leads from LeadPoint directly from Ellie Mae's mortgage automation system.
