Ambrx Raises $52M
San Diego-based Ambrx has raised $52M in a Series C funding, the company said yesterday afternoon. Ambrx is developing biopharmaceuticals based on protein modification. The round was led by Apposite, and included new investors Glynn Ventures, The Dow Employees Pension Plan, and Union Carbide Employees Pension Plan. Amp'd, InPhonic Connect
Los Angeles-based Amp'd Mobile and InPhonic, a provider of cellular service shopping tools, are in a new distribution agreement. InPhonic said yesterday that it is in a multi-year distribution agreement with Amp'd. Amp'd is now an option in online stores powered by its software. InPhonic provides a serivce that allows consumers to shop for cellular phone service. Amp'd is a venture-backed, mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that is targeting the trendy youth market.

SyncCast Gets Win With Panasonic Avionics
Anaheim-based SyncCast, a provider of content delivery software and systems, has scored a new DRM win with Panasonic. Panasonic Avionics Corporation said Wednesday that it has rolled out a new, in-flight entertainment system that taps SyncCasts's DRM technology. The new system works with Microsoft Windows Media-enabled portable devices. Quantum Technologies Raises $12.5M in PIPE
Irvine-based Quantum Technologies, a developer of powertrain engineering, system integration, and packaged fuels systems for the automotive industry, has raised $12.5M in a private placement. The firm said it raised the financing from existing shareholders and several new insitutional investors. Investors were not disclosed. The financing was placed by Canaccord Adams. Quantum Technologies develops products for the hybrid and fuel cell vehicle market.
