Today, we're featuring a podcast interview with Matthew Kazmierczak, Vice President of Research and Industry Analysis at the AeA. The AeA recently released its CyberStates report, a report on the growth of high technology regions in the United States, and its California Cybercities report, which analyzed California's high tech industry. Movielink To Allow Download-to-Burn
Santa Monica-based Movielink has inked a deal with a provider of DVD burning software, Sonic Solutions, to enable DVD burning of movies downloaded through the online movie download service. MovieLink said this morning that it is in a licensing agreement for technology from Sonic to allow consumers to burn downloaded movies onto recordable discs for playback on a standard DVD player. Motricity Acquires GoldPocket
Los Angeles-based GoldPocket Wireless, a provider of wireless marketing for the media and entertainment industry, has been acquired. Motricity, a provider of mobile content services, said today that it has acquired GoldPocket to extend its relationships in the media segment, to compliment its existing mobile operator and media customers, and to position the firm for the "off-deck" market. Yahoo Adds Business Video News, Enhances Finance Portal
Yahoo has launched a new set of content initiatives for its popular Yahoo Finance site, saying today that it has upgraded the site to add new stock charts, a new ability for third party sites to publish stock charts and news headlines, enhanced stock message boards, as well as aggregated business news video. The Active Network Acquires Youth Soccer Firm
San Diego-based The Active Network has acquired LeagueOne.com, the company said today. Financial terms were not disclosed. GoTV Rolls Out Reality Series For Mobile
Sherman Oaks-based GoTV, a provider of mobile content for cell phones, is rolling out a new, reality series for mobile phones. The firm, which develops content for mobile phone platforms, is announcing today a reality video services called Primped, which features Cuban-born model Vida Guerra. REAL D Inks Deal With Cinemark
Los Angeles-based REAL D, a provider of 3-D technology for movie theaters, announced this morning that it has landed a deal to equipment up to 150 Cinemark Theatres with its systems. The deal will allow Cinemark to display 3-D movies at its movie theaters. The two companies said that they will initially deploy 17 screens, in time from Columbia Pictures' MONSTER HOUSE to be displayed in 3-D later this month. Media Matchmaker Makes Match
Los Angeles-based Media Matchmaker, a company developing an online marketplace for product placement deals, is announcing today that it has matched up two users for what it says is a the first pure sponsorship deal for the site.
