Warner, Apple Bring TV Shows To iTunes
Burbank-based Warner Bros. and Apple said this afternoon that the two companies will make Warner's television library available on Apple's popular iTunes Music Store. Warner and Apple said that the content would include sitcoms such as "Friends", shows such as "Babylon 5", and "MADtv", along with animated features like "The Jetsons" and "The Flintstones". VC Investments in Startups Hits High
The National Venture Capital Association / PricewaterhouseCoopers MoneyTree report was released today, confirming yesterday's Ernst & Young LLP and VentureOne venture capital results. According to the NVCA, the survey found $6.3 billion in venture capital deals. There was some good news for startups in the survey, which found that first-time funding was at a high. LexisNexis Buys Los Angeles Software Provider
LexisNexis announced yesterday that it has acquired a Los Angeles-based developer of evidence management software, Dataflight Software. Terms were not disclosed. Dataflight is a provider of software used by law firms, corporations, and government agencies to organize and identify documents in litigation. THQ Closes Paradigm Acquisition
Agoura Hills-based THQ said today that it has completed its acquisition of Paradigm Entertainment. THQ had originally announced the acquisition of Paradigm Entertainment in May. Paradigm is a game development firm working on titles for next-generation systems. Paradigm was formerly a unit of Atari. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Disney Makes Indian Investment, Acquisition
Burbank-based Walt Disney Company announced this morning that it has acquired an Indian children's television channel, Hungama TV, and also agreed to take an equity interest in UTV Software Communications Limited, a media company in India. Walt Disney said that the investment and purchase would establish the company's strategic presence in a rapidly growing media market, where local content production is key. vMix Signs Deal With Fox
San Diego-based vMix, a provider of a web video community, has inked a deal with Fox Home Entertainment. The two companies said that the two will expand their cross-promotional marketing relationship, by adding personalized features around Fox Home Entertainment's TV on DVD releases. Staccato Gets Deal with SMSC
San Diego-based Staccato Communications, a provider of ultrawideband USB silicon, said Monday that it is in a joint effort with SMSC. The two companies said that they are delivering two reference designs for the Certified Wireless USB market, which incorporates SMSC's USB hubs with Staccato's single chip, CMOS wireless USB device wire adapter. Irvine-based Motherboard Manufacturer Acquired
Irvine-based BCM Advanced Research, a manufacturer of embedded motherboards and single board computers, said today that it is being acquired by Taiwan-based Evalue Technology. Terms were not disclosed. BCM is a developer of industrial motherboards, used for embedded computing products. The combined company will be headquartered in Taipei, with offices in Irvine and Tinton Falls, NJ.

ClearMesh Selected By WFI
Pasadena-based ClearMesh Networks has scored a win with San Diego-based WFI, as the two companies aid today that they will deploy ClearMesh's wireless optical mesh eequpiment for the San Diego Westfield UTC shopping center. WFI will use ClearMesh's software to connect the 155 shops, 25 eateries, and an ice-skating rink into a wireless network. Panda Software Rolls Out Linux Security Software
Glendale-based Panda Software said today that it has launched a free suite of security software for protecting Linux workstations. The firm launched Panda DesktopSecure for Linux, a suite of software targeted at malware detection, email filtering, and firewall functionality. Panda is globally headquartered in Spain.

Ixia Upgrades Test Systems
Calabasas-based Ixia has upgraded its network test systems, saying Monday that it has rolled out its new Optixia XM test system. The new system provides up to 144 GbE or 36 10 GbE ports in a 17.5 inch tall chassis, and is targeted at equipment vendors and service providers in the Ethernet space.
