CaseRev Raises $4M
San Diego-based CaseRev, a firm developing software-as-a-service applications for the insurance industry, said today that it has raised $4M in a Series B funding. CaseRev said that the funding came from Rusic Canyon Partners, along with investments from Miramar Venture Partners. Michael Song of Rustic Canyon has been added to the firm's board as part of the funding. CaseRev is developing hosted software for managing insurance litigation.

Internet Brands Launches Car Wiki
Los Angeles-based Internet Brands announced Wednesday that the firm has opened up what it calls "Wikipedia for Cars", Wikicars.org. The new web site provides a wiki-style web site that allows car shoppers and others to build a community-driven site around automobiles. Internet Brands said it is looking to draw a dedicated community of contributors with a passion for sharing personal automotive experience. Yahoo Renames Music Offering, Combines Music Clients
Santa Monica-based Yahoo! Music has renamed the firm's digital music playing properties, saying Wednesday that it has renamed Yahoo! Music Engine to Yahoo! Music Jukebox, adding features from the firm's Musicmatch Jukebox and combining the two separate music clients. Yahoo said that the renaming and integration of the music applications is a move to migrate Musicmatch Jukebox users to Yahoo's preferred media player. Acquired Musicmatch in 2004 for $160M.

Apani Upgrades Security Software
Brea-based Apani Networks, a provider of network security software, has released an upgraded version of the firm's EpiForce perimeter security software. Apani said Wednesday that it has released EpiForce Version 2.2, adding support for the popular Oracle 10G database, Red Hat Linux 6.2 and 7.3, and Windows Terminal Server. Apani's software is targeted at enterprise data protection through authentication, authorization, and access control.

DivX Partners With Indian Content Provider
San Diego-based DivX said this week that it has partnered with a company in Delhi, India, to release films available on DivX format to the Indian market. Divx said earlier this week that UTV of India, a content provider with distribution rights to both Hollywood and Bollywood titles, would release films in encoded, DivX format. Titles included in the deal include "The Myth," "Swades," "Main Meri Patni Aur Woh," "Sin City," "Unleashed" and "Pulp Fiction." DivX licenses its own media compression/d (More info...)

Leap Wireless Names CFO
San Diego-based Leap Wireless has named a new CFO. Leap has appointed Amin I. Khalifa as Executive Vice President and CFO. Current acting CFO Dean Luvisa will become VP Finance for the firm. Khalifa joins Leap from Apria Healthcare Group, where he also served as EVP and CFO. Khalifa has also served at Beckman Coulter, Monsanto, and Aetna.
