Interview with Dan Engel, Morpheus Software
Dan Engel is CEO and co-founder of Santa Barbara-based Morpheus Software (, a company developing photo animation software. Dan has been involved at two graphics software firms, Sanity Software, which was sold to Broderbund, and Picasa, which was sold to Google. Teledyne Buys CollaborX
Los Angeles-based Teledyne Technologies has made another acquisition, saying today that its subsidiary, Teledyne Brown Engineering, is buying Colorado Springs, Colorado-based CollaborX, Inc. The deal is worth $17.5M. CollaborX is a provider of government engineering services to the U.S. Air Force, and had revenues of $13.6M for its fiscal year ending December 2005. Teledyne said that the acquisition complements its existing government systems engineering business.

SAIC Buys Cornerstone Industry
San Diego-based Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has purchased a Alexandria, Virginia-based defense contractor. SAIC said that it acquired Cornerstone Industry, a provider of joint doctrine development for the US military forces, e-learning, web services, and computer gaming. Financial terms were not disclosed. Cornerstone employs 59 in Washington DC and elsewhere.

Broadcom In Acer Notebook Win
Irvine-based Broadcom is in a win with Acer for its draft-802.11n wireless chips. Broadcom said today that Acer is using its Intensi-fi wireless chipsets in its new Ferrari notebook computers. Broadcom's pre-standard chipsets implement the draft-802.11n wireless standard, which is the emerging standard for next generation wireless connectivity.

Irvine-based MTI Technology, a provider of IT systems and services, said today that it has been selected by the City of Birmingham, Alabama, for its application and data recoverability services. MTI has provided an audit of the recoverability of applications and servers for the company. MTI is provider of consulting and storage to mid and large size organizations.
