MySpace, Google Ink Advertising Deal Worth $900M
Fox Interactive Media announced yesterday afternoon that it has entered into a multi-year search technology and services agreement with Google, where Google will be the exclusive search and keyword targeted advertising sales provider for MySpace and Fox's other web properties. The deal is worth $900M or more to Fox. Fox, which is a division of News Corporation, said that Google will power the web, vertical, and site specific search for MySpace.com and the majority of Fox Interactive Media proper (More info...)

Cabrellis Pharmaceuticals Raises $27.5M
San Diego-based Cabrellis Pharmaceuticals, which is developing treatments for cancer, said Monday that it has raised $27.5M in a Series A funding round. Funding came from Domain Associates, Forward Ventures, Lilly Ventures, Novo A/S, ProQuest Investments, RBC Capital Partners, RiverVest Venture Partners, and S.R. One, Limited. THQ Receives SEC Inquiry On Stock Options
Agoura Hills-based THQ said Monday that it has received an informal inquiry from the Securities and Exchange Commission on its stock option grant practices, making it the second Southern California game firm under scrutiny by the SEC. The firm said that the SEC is requesting certain documents and information relating to the company's tock option grant practices from January 1, 1996 to the present. Neurocrine Lays Off 100 In San Diego
San Diego-based Neurocrine Biosicences, a biopharmaceuticals firm that is developing treatments for insomnia, anxiety, depression, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, and CNS related disorders, said Monday that it is making staff reductions of approximately 100 employees as its San Diego campus. The layoffs reduce the firm's staff there to approximately 280 employees. Neucrine said that the move is a part of its restructuring programs to prioritize research and development programs.

First American Buys MLS Software Provider
Santa Ana-based First American Corporation, a provider of business information, said Monday that it has acquired Offutt Systems, a Greensboro, North Carolina provider of multiple listing service (MLS) solutions. Offutt develops technology used for the small-to-medium MLS, real estate market. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Transcepta Launches Invoicing Service
Aliso Viejo-based Transcepta has launched the firm's hosted invoicing service, saying that it has signed a customer, Multi Visual Products, as one of its initial customers. Multi Visual Products will use Transcepta's service for its digital photofinishing production lab. Transcepta's product allows businesses to send electronic invoices and receive electronic payments. Transcepta is backed by the Tech Coast Angels.
