Broadcom Gets Delisting Notice
Irvine-based Broadcom has received a delisting notice from the Nasdaq, the firm reported in a filing Friday. Broadcom said in an 8-K filing Friday that the firm has received a Staff Determination notice from the Nasdaq, saying that the firm's stock is subject to delisting. The notice is a result of the firm's delay in filing its 10-Q quarterly report, for the three months ended June 30. Broadcom delayed its 10-Q because of an ongoing review of its stock options awards, and a pending restatement. (More info...)

Demand Media Buys Hillclimb Media
Santa Monica-based Demand Media, the domain name aggregation play headed by ex-Intermix CEO Richard Rosenblatt, has acquired Hillclimb Media, a company which hosts travel, sports, and outdoors-related web sites. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Demand Media said that the addition of Hillclimb enables it to expand its ability to deliver a unique, targeted, and effective marketplace for its users and advertisers. ThisNext Launches Recommendation Service
Los Angeles-based ThisNext has launched its online shopping recommendation service, as the venture funded firm has emerged from stealth. ThisNext said that it is offering a "shopcasting and product discovery network" which allows bloggers and others to recommend products online. ThisNext said that the service will use social filtering, discovery algorithms, and the "wisdom of crowds" to help consumers find products. Fonality Trumpets Deployment Numbers
Los Angeles-based Fonality is trumpeting its deployment numbers, claiming that it now has the largest commercial deployment of Asterisk, the open source IP PBX. Fonality said that more than 1,000 SMBs, with a total of 15,000 employees, have deployed its PBXtra product. Fonality said that it has extended the open source Asterisk product far beyond its base feature set, and provided 24-hour support and stability to the popular software. Next Stop For Activision's Call of Duty: Reality TV
Santa Monica-based Activision is extending its popular Call of Duty video game title, this time, to television. Activision said today that it is teaming up with Spike TV and Best Buy to deliver a boot camp style reality TV show.
