Broadcom Suit Against Qualcomm Dismissed
An antitrust lawsuit filed by Irvine-based Broadcom against San Diego-based Qualcomm has been dismissed by a judge in New Jersey. The lawsuit, which had been filed by Broadcom in July of last year, was dismissed in the United States District Court of the District of New Jersey. In a 47 page opinion, the court found that, among other things, Qualcomm's patents did not make it an unlawful monopolist in the 3G CDMA market, and that, the firm's alleged conduct does not support claims for monopolizat (More info...)

Wavestream Names VP
San Dimas-based Wavestream, a manufacturer of power amplifiers for the communications market, has appointed a new Executive Vice President of Engineering and Technology. Wavestream said this week that Francis S. Auricchio,Jr. will take the position, and will oversee the firm's engineering and technology operations. Auricchio joins from Beoing Satellite Systems. Callwave Appoints VP
Santa Barbara-based CallWave has appointed a new VP, saying Thursday that it has appointed Kelly Delany as Vice President of Corporate Communications. Delany replaces Adrian van Haaften, the firm's Chief Marketing Officer, who the company said left to pursue other interests. Delany was most recently at Sound ID, and has also served at Somera Communications, Oracle, AnswerThink and Ogilvy & Mather. CallWave provides Internet-based telephony and communications services.

DispenseSource Signs Tool Supply Firm
Irvine-based DispenseSource has signed a customer for its inventory management solution, saying that Mahar Tool Supply, a Michigan-based firm has adopted its products for its distribution business. Mahar Tool will use DispenseSource's inventory management solutions for distribution of metal removal products, industrial tooling and commodity management programs.
