DATAllegro Raises $22.5M
Aliso Viejo-based DATAllegro said this morning that is has closed a $22.5M Series C funding round. The new round of funding was led by JAFCO Ventures, and included Focus Ventures, Adams Capital Management, Intel Capital, Palomar Ventures, and Venrock Associates. DATAllegro develops data warehouse appliances targeted at business intelligence and other uses. En Pointe Buys BPO Firm
Los Angeles-based En Pointe Technologies said this morning that it is acquiring a majority interest in two Pakistani companies whic provide it with business processing outsourcing. En pointe said that it will acquire 70% of the stock of Ovex Technologies Ltd., and Ovex Pakistan Limited, two related companies. Both firms, headquartered in Lahore, Pakistan, provide back office operational and financial accounting services for En Pointe. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. MOSAID, Caltech In Patent Licensing Deal
Canada-based MOSAID Technologies and Pasadena-based California Institute of Technology (Caltech) said Tuesday that the firms are in a patent licensing agreement. MOSAID will license certain Caltech patents relating to technologies used in wireless communications chips and systems, power management chips, and light emitting diodes. MOSAID said it will exclusively license those patents to third parties, provide royalty revenues to Caltech, and will reimburse Caltech for expenses related to the pat (More info...)

Cogent Gets $4M Maryland Win
South Pasadena-based Cogent Systems, a provider of automated fingerprint identification systems, said Tuesday that it has scored a win worth $4M at the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS). The correctional service will use the firm's Automated Palmprint and Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). Cogent's system will replace a legacy system at the department. The systems will be used for law enforcement purposes.

Qualcomm Adds to Board
San Diego-based Qualcomm has added a new member to its board of directors, saying this week that it has named Sherry Lansing to the board. Lansing has more than 30 years in the motion picture industry, including serving as chair of the Motion Picture Group of Paramount Pictures. Lansing also operated Lansing Productions, and was president of production at 20th Century Fox.

Los Angeles-based is reporting that it has acquired 10 domain portfolios over the last two months, saying that it is aggressively building its portfolio of domain names. Oversee said that it has more than one million domain names and over 100 million unique visitors per month. OVersee provides search engine optimization and advertising on its domains.
