Southern California Q3 VC Deals
Southern California's venture capital deal flow in Q3 of this year totaled $794.93M in 70 deals, according to an analysis of socalTECH's venture capital database. The totals were up from the same period last year, where there was an investment of $431.25M in 52 deals, but down from the second quarter, where there was $1.07B in investments in 94 venture related deals in the area. PriceRunner Gets Win With MSN
Westlake Village-based ValueClick said this morning that its online comparison shopping business, PriceRunner Europe, has been chosen by MSN to be the primary provider of price comparison content for MSN's shopping channel in the UK and France. PriceRunner provides comparison shopping information in the UK, France, US, and other European countries. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. SpotRunner Targets Franchises
Los Angeles-based Spot Runner, which is developing Internet-based services for making it easier for businesses to purchase television advertising, announced today that it has launched a new ad program targeting franchises. The company's Franchise Advertising Program is designed to allow franchisees to launch TV ad campaigns, using a library of preproduced television spots. SOA Software Opens European Office
Los Angeles-based SOA Software has opened up a new European headquarters, the firm announced this morning. The company's new London, UK headquarters is a part of an effort to expand its European support, sales team, and channel partners. SOA Software is a developer of service-oriented-architecture software, used by enterprises to connect enterprise systems and develop reusable software code. Snap.com Names CTO, VP
Perfect Market Technologies has named two new executives, naming Michael Agostino to the position of Chief Technology Officer and Jay Meydad as Vice Preisdent of Product. Agostino was most recently a product manager at VERITAS Software and a venture capitalists at Vulcan Capital, and has also served at Infoseek. Meydad joins from Spark Networks, where he was Chief of Product Management. He has also served at ICQ Mobile. Novatel Ramps EV-DO Rev A Shipments
San Diego-based Novatel Wireless, a provider of wireless modems and other communications hardware, said today that it is now shipping three new EV-DO Rev A products. The products, which include embedded modules, PC cards, and USB devices, are shipping to OEM customers. Novatel's EV-DO Rev A hardware allows consumers to connect their PCs and notebooks to 3G cellular networks. The firm is the first to ship next generation EV-DO Rev A hardware.

BandTel Interops With VegaStream
Newport Beach-based BandTel, a provider of SIP trunking services for the Voice-over-IP market, has completed interoperability testing with VegaStream, a VoIP gateway manufacturer. BandTel and VegaStream have entered into an alliance, where VegaStream's channel partners will offer access to BandTel's global network in conjunction with VegaStream gateways.
