Study: MySpace Users Now Older
A new study was released this morning from comScore Media Metrix, finding that more than half of MySpace visitors are now 35 or older. The number of Internet users visiting MySpace who were between 35-54 was 40.6 percent in August, which was a 8.2 percentage point increase over the same period last year. For the teenage crowd, the difference was much larger. comScore found that teens 12-17 accounted for 24.7 percent of the MySpace audience in August of 2005, and only 11.9 percent of the site's t (More info...)

Blackhawk Network Buys EWI Holdings
Pleasanton-based Blackhawk Network, a provider of third party prepaid cards, said this morning that it has agreed to purchase San Diego-based EWI Holdings. EWI Holding is a provider of prepaid payment processing technology and services. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. EWI Holdings is backed by Darby Technology Ventures and National City Equity Partners. Blackhawk is a subsidiary of Safeway.

WebSideStory Launches Ajax Site Search
San Diego-based WebSideStory announced today that it has made a new, Ajax-based site search product available to its customers. The new search solution, called Active Browsing, uses the popular Ajax technique to provide interactive search of e-commerce web sites. The, Web 2.0-style search product allows users to browse through a web site or product catalog interactively without having to reload pages in the browser. The new product is part of the firm's WebSideStory Search offerings.

Smith Micro Taps Morpheus For Photo Animation
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software said this morning that it has signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Santa Barbara-based Morpheus Software, publisher of a digital photo animation software. Morpheus Photo Animation Suite allows users to take photos and morph, distort, blend, and animate those photos. Smith Micro said that it will offer the software directly and through retailers, catalogs, and distribution partners worldwide. Terms of the publishing agreement were not disclosed. Halo Goes Mobile
Verizon Wireless and Los Angeles-based mobile game publisher IN-FUSIO said Wednesday that the two have launched a new, mobile service that allows players of the popular Halo game to check statistics, send messages, and customize their phone with Halo-themed graphics and music. The two said they have launched Halo: Mobile Portal for Verizon's Get It Now service. RF Magic Teams For WiMax Module
San Diego-based RF Magic has teamed up with a provider of WiMax chipsets to put together a combined WiMax Mini-PCI module. RF Magic said it has teamed with Wavesat, a WiMax chipset provider, to develop a sub-$100 mini-PCI module designed for OEM manufacturers. The product combines RF Magic's broadband radio frequency ICs with Wavesat's WiMax capability for companies developing WiMax products.

Oversee.net Names CFO
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net has appointed a new CFO, saying that it has appointed Robert F. Chrone to the position. Chrone joins the firm from FrontBridge Technologies, where he was CFO and Executive Vice President of Operations. Chrone will report to Lawrence Ng, CEO and Co-founder of Oversee. Chrone has also served at Atlas World HOldings and Dual Drilling.
