DoctorsDirect Raises $2.5M
Santa Monica-based DoctorsDirect.com, which is developing a service to enable patients to book appointments with doctors online, has raised $2.5M in a venture capital round. The Series A funding came from Spark Capital, a Boston-based venture capital firm. DoctorsDirect is headed by Tommy McGloin, former SVP and GM of AOL's MapQuest. Ripe Digital Entertainment Raises $32M
Los Angeles-based Ripe Digital Entertainment, a firm that is developing digital television products and video-on-demand services, said today that it has raised $32M in a Series B funding round. The round came from Hearst-Argyle, Time Warner Investments, Columbia Capital, and Rho Ventures. Ripe Digital Entertainment said that the capital will be used to build its broadband and mobile strategy, and accelerate the development of its measurable advertising platform. Voice Print Buys Syntora
Camarillo-based Voice Print, a provider of call logging and monitoring products, said today that it has acquired Canadian firm Syntora. Syntora provides agent performance optimization solutions for contact centers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Voice Print said that Syntora's business analytics software is used by contact centers to optimize employee performance.

Stamps.com Adds College Teams
Los Angeles-based Stamps.com has added new, college-focused personalized stamps, saying this morning that it is now offering more than 41 collegiate stamps to its PhotoStamps service. Stamps.com's PhotoStamps service allows anyone to upload photos for use on official US postage stamps. The company said that the new collegiate PHotoStamps include school logos and mascots. Stamps.com said that a portion of the proceeds from each stamp will go to each individual school.

Business.com Opens Work.com How To Guides
Santa Monica-based Business.com, a provider of business focused search engine and directory services, launched a new How To site today called Work.com. The firm, which bills the site as a "Web 2.0" community platform, said that the site is designed to help small business owners run their businesses. WFI Taps WiMax Provider
San Diego-based WFI, a provider of design, deployment, and management services for wireless communications, announced that it has entered into a strategic agreement with Redline Communications, a provider of WiMax backhaul solutions. WFI will augment its existing WiMax capability by bundling Redline's WiMax products. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
