Xencor Raises $45M
Monrovia-based Xencor has raised $45M in a new round of investment, the firm said today. The round came from MedImmune Ventures, Novo Nordisk, and HealthCare Ventures, as well as existing investor Zen Investments. Xencor said that the funding will be used to advance clinical development of its biologic drug compounds. The round included the $6M bridge the firm landed in July. The round of funding brings Xencor's total venture capital raised to $130M.

Anacomp Buys Imaging Acceptance Corp
San Diego-based Anacomp, a provider of document management services and software, said today that it has acquired Warrenton, Virginia-based Imaging Acceptance Corp. Financial terms were not disclosed. IAC provides scanning and document services for the federal government. Anacomp provides document capture services for the Fortune 100.

Altra Starts Construction Of Ethanol Production Facility
Los Angeles-based Altra, a venture-backed startup in the energy space, said today that its subsidiary, Altra Indiana LLC, has begun development of an ethanol production facility in Indiana. The firm said the $170M project is part of its plan to build 500 million gallons per year of biofuel production capacity nationwide. Altra is backed by Angeleno Investors, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Omninet Capital, and Sage Venture Partners.

Vical Scores $25M
San Diego-based Vical announced this morning that it has raised $25M in a registered direct offering from Temasek Holdings Ltd. The funding will go towards the firm's development of DNA-based vaccines. Vical is publicly listed on the NASDAQ.

LeisureLink Ties Into Travelocity
Pasadena-based LeisureLink has tied into Travelocity, saying today that its properties will soon be featured in Travelocity's hotel and packaging shopping engines. Terms of the deal wre not disclosed. LeisureLink said that its clients will be available through Travelocity's two-way CRS system, which allows for real-time booking of rooms. LeisureLink provides tools for managing vacation rental properties on the Internet.

Low.com Launches Spanish Web Site, Chat
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net's Low.com, a consumer finance and mortgage portal, said this week that it has rolled out a new Spanish language web site, and real-time, web-based customer support chat. Low.com, which provides home buying information online, said that the Spanish version of its site was designed to reach the growing number of Hispanic and Spanish-speaking consumers using the Internet. Integrien Ties Into IBM
Irvine-based Integrien said this week that it has incorporated technology from IBM into its Integrien Alive software. The IBM Autonomic Computing Toolkit allows Integrien to connect into the Common Base Event format standard for monitoring system activity. The integration allows for integration with the popular IBM Tivoli management tool.

Invio Gets DoD Win
San Diego-based Invio Biomedical announced today that it will receive a $1.1M appropriation from the United States Department of Defense, to develop applications of its technology for vaccination against infectious disease. The firm said that the funding was part of the Defense Appropriations Bill for 2007. Invio is developing gene delivery systems for gene-based vaccines. The win is part of the firm's work with USAMRIID in Fort Detrick, Maryland.

Auditude Targets User-Generated Video
Los Angeles-based Auditude, a company developing software for media and music recognition, announced today that the firm is targeting the user-generated video space, with a solution to allow copyright owners to detect copyrighted content. The firm's technology has previously been used to monitor music usage on TV and radio stations.
