Biggerboat Raises Second Round of Funding
Los Angeles-based BiggerBoat has raised a second round of financing, according to CEO Adam Lilling. The new round was worth more than $2.5M, and included new investor Draper Associates and an investment by Tim Draper. Other investors in the round include existing investors Zone Ventures and First Round Capital. In an interview with socalTECH, Lilling said that the company has now raised enough money to go cash flow positive. Kalypsys Raises $100M
San Diego-based Kalypsys, a firm developing small molecule pharmaceuticals, said today that it has raised $100M in a Series C financing. The funding was led by Tavistock Life Sciences, which contributed $89M to the round. Other investors in the round included Sprout Group, CMEA Ventures, and KT Venture Group. The new round of funding brings the company's total raised to $172M. Kalypsys is developing compounds aimed at metabolic disorders, pain/inflammation, and oncology.

Broadcom Buys LVL7 Systems
Irvine-based Broadcom said today that it is in a definitive agreement to acquire North Carolina-absed LVL7 Systems, a developer of networking software. The deal is worth approximately $62M in cash. LVL7's software is used by original equipment manufacturers and designers to implement IP and Ethernet products. Revver Hits Verizon V CAST
Los Angeles-based Revver announced late last night that the firm will provide its user-generated content and video to Verizon Wireless V Cast subscribers. According to Revver, its videos will be available on the Verizon video network in early December. Revver said it will share net revenue with its users who allow their content to be shared via V CAST. Iomega Adds New NAS Devices
San Diego-based Iomega has rolled out four new Network Attached Storage products aimed at small businesses, the firm said Tuesday. The new Iomega StorCenter devices provide up to 1.5TB of NAS storage, and are based on Microsoft's Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 operating system. According to Iomega, the StorCenter Pro NAS 250d servers include RAID 0, 1, and 5; dual Gigabit Ethernet connections options; and print services in the 750GB and 1.5TB models. DoctorsDirect.com Signs Santa Monica Physicians
Santa Monica-based DoctorsDirect.com, a venture-backed startup looking to make it easier to book doctor's appointments, said Tuesday that it has signed on a new doctor's group. The firm said that Santa Monica Bay Physicians' Playa/Marina Urgent Care Center will use its services to allow the public to book flu shot appointments.
