Los Angeles-based Momentum Venture Partners has recently launched a new early-stage venture fund, with a different twist. The firm has been working with early-stage companies that been struggling to secure first-round venture funding, but have compelling technology, to shape into fundable companies. Qualcomm Buys Airgo, RFMD'S Bluetooth Business
San Diego-based Qualcomm said this morning that it has made two acquisitions in the wireless space, acquiring Palo Alto-based Airgo, and the majority of RF Micro Devices' Bluetooth assets. Financial terms were not disclosed. Airgo is a provider of WLAN products, including WLAN technology for access points and laptop computers. ValueClick Buys Shopping.net
Westlake Village-baesd ValueClick said today that it has acquired Shopping.net for $13.3M in cash. Shopping.net is a London-based operator of 27 comparison shopping, search, and vertical content web sites for the European market. According to ValueClick, Shopping.net will be integrated into its ValueClick Europe unit. Shopping.net is expected to generate $4M in revenue and $2M in adjusted EBITDA for calendar year 2006. ValueClick is a diversified online market firm.

Vitesse Scores Win At HP
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor has scored a design win at Hewlett Packard, the firm announced this morning. Vitesse said that its Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) storage products will be used as part of the HP StorageWorks 60 Modular Smart Array and HP ProLiant DL320 server. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Vitesse NextSAS chips will be used to provide connectivity to SAS storage for the HP products.

SOA Software Launches Governance Product
Los Angeles-based SOA Software said today that it has launched a new SOA governance product. The new product is aimed at controlling the deployment of SOA and Web Services, standards used by enterprise IT developers to connect software systems. According to SOA software, the new product enforces run-time policies, supports service discovery and provisioning, and handles support fo the UDDIv3 standard. Pricing starts at $50,000.
