Private Equity Firm Acquires Aplus.net
Private equity firm Catalyst Investors has acquired San Diego-based Aplus.net, a provider of domain registration services, web hosting, and dedicated server hosting services, the firm said Monday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Catalyst invested in the 300 employee firm alongside Gabriel Murphy, founder of web hosting firm CommuniTech.net. Innovative Micro Inks Manufacturing Deal
Santa Barbara-based Innovative Micro Technology (IMT) and XCOM Wireless, a provider of RF components, said yesterday that IMT will manufacture XCOM's RF MEMS Relay product. IMT is a provider of MEMS contract manufacturing services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. XCOM is a developer of radio frequency components used for antennas, tunable filters, and other communications applications. Innovative Micro is a developer of MEMS device manufacturing services.

SMC Bundles Skype Phone
Irvine-based SMC Networks said Monday that it has created a new WiFi phone bundle with Skype and FON, targeted at U.S. and European customers. The new phone includes a Wi-Fi telephone designed for use with Skype, a FON wireless router, and bundled Skype voicemail and SkypeOut calling time. The new bundle is targeted at providing consumers with the basics for making Internet calls.

MediciNova Moving To NASDAQ
San Diego-based biopharmaceutical company Medicinova announced this morning that it is moving to the NASDAQ Global Market, after approval by the Nasdaq Stock Market to list its securities there. The firm, which will trade under MNOV starting tomorrow, was previously traded on the Hercules Market of the Osaka Securities Exchange. Medicinova was the first American company to do an IPO in Japan, in early 2005.

Websense Targets Citrix Security
San Diego-based Websense, a provider of web security and filtering tools, said today that it is targeting the security of virtual applications environments under the Citrix Presentation Server software. Websense said that it has integrated the latest version of its security products with Citrix Presentation Server, a popular software package used to provide virtual access to software applications in enterprises. Integrien Partners With Tata Consulting Services
Irvine-based Integrien, a provider of IT management software, and outsourcing provide Tata Consulting Services, said today that the two have partnered to provide implementation of Integrien's Alive product. Tata will implement Integrien's products for its customers and for its own infrastructure. Integrien's software is used to provide management of IT infrastructure and applications.
