SAIC Invests In Zebra Imaging
San Diego-based Science Applications International Corporation said Monday afternoon that it has entered into a master marketing agreement with Austin, Texas-based Zebra Imaging, a developer of 3D display technologies. SAIC also said that it made a strategic investment in the firm through its SAIC Venture Capital investment arm. Zebra Imaging develops holograms and 3D full color displays. Report: Global VC Investments To Hit $32B In 2006
Dow Jones VentureOne and Ernst & Young are reporting today that venture capital investors are on track to invest more than $32 billion in 2006, the most capital invested in the sector since 2001. The analysis, conducted by the two companies, found that there was $25.39B invested in the first three quarters of the year, with deal totals expected to top $32B after the fourth quarter. Tech Coast Angels Starts Seed Program, Makes Investment
The Tech Coast Angels, the largest Southern California angel investment group, is announcing today that the group is starting a new, funding program specifically targeted at early stage San Diego companies. Broadcom Ships 1080p Digital TV Chip
Irvine-based Broadcom has shipped a new, single-chip 1080p digital TV solution, which the firm says is the industry's first. Broadcom's new digital television chip provides a television in a chip, targeted at manufacturers developing high definition television sets. The 65nm system-on-a-chip implements the HD1080p standard, which is the highest quality video display standard for HDTV. Qualcomm Adds Assisted GPS Offering
San Diego-based Qualcomm has added a new, assisted-GPS offering to its lineup, as the firm focuses in on enabling location based service. The company said that its new BREW Locate Signature Solution provides assisted GPS for wireless operators looking to enable location-based services. Fonality Targets Middle Market
Los Angeles-based open source PBX provider Fonality said today that it is looking to target middle market customers with a new reseller program. The firm said that it is looking to address the 50 to 500 seat middle market customer with its products, by adding new tiered certification and training programs. Fonality has been focused on the SMB market for its PBX systems, which are based on the Asterisk open source PBX project.

Wispry Hires VPs
Irvine-based WiSpry, a firm developing tunable RF components and devices for the wireless industry, said today it has hired two new VPs. Scott Feltenberg has joined the firm as VP of Finance, and Collin Baker has joined the firm as VP of Customer Engineering. Feltenberg has served at Jazz Semiconductor, Emulex, Qlogic, and Stanford Applied Engineering; Baker joins the firm from LSI Logic and Rockwell Semiconductor (Conexant).
