Boingo Expands European WiFi Coverage
Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless has expanded its European wireless coverage, saying this week that has expanded its Wi-Fi hotspot service across Europe with a series of agreements with local operators. Boingo said it has signed up a number of Wi-Fi partners in Europe, adding additional coverage in Germany, Spain, Greece, and the Netherlands. The carriers include GlobalAirNet AG, HotspotDeutschland, AWA, Mobilander, FORTHnet, Wjoy, and The Cloud. Boingo Wireless operates a roaming WiFi service (More info...)

Helio, Obopay Partner On Payment Service
Los Angeles-based Helio and Redwood City-based Obopay said Wednesday that the two have partnered to offer Obopay's mobile payment service to members of the Helio mobile phone service. Helio members will be able to use Obopay's via Helio's devices, and check their balances, payment histories, and add funds. Obopay operates a service that allows consumers to send money via their mobile phones.

WebSidestory Shuffles Management Team
San Diego-based WebSideStory has shuffled its executive staff, saying that it is consolidating the leadership and operation of its WebSideStory and Visual Sciences divisions. The new executive staff is headed by CEO Jim MacIntyre, who was formerly head of the firm's Visual Sciences business unit, and names a number of executives to the title of Senior Vice President. Language Weaver Upgrades Translation Software
Los Angeles-based Language Weaver said this week that it has upgraded its automated machine translation software. The firm said that its upgraded software adds better translation workflow processes, a new licensing model for small businesses and government organizations, XML-based formatting, and ability to translate Microsoft Office documents. Language Weaver also added support for translation between Polish and English, and Czech and English.

BakBone In Distribution Agreement With Sun
San Diego-based backup software provider BakBone Software said today that it has inked a technology licensing and distribution agreement with Sun Microsystems. According to BakBone, the firm's NetVault backup product will now be available through Sun's direct sales force, distributors, and value added resellers. BakBone's product is used by customers to provide data backup and recovery for their storage.
