Truston Launches Identity Management Service
Santa Barbara-based Truston has launched a new identity management service, the angel-backed firm said Monday. The service provides online credit inspection and fraud recovery services, and will offer both a free prevention service and a $19.99 recovery service. Truston is backed by Dennis Cagan of the Santa Barbara Technology Group.

Passenger Launches Community Platform
Los Angeles-based Passenger announced this morning that it has launched a new platform to allow Fortune 500 companies to create private, branded online communities. The new software platform allows companies to create social networking web sites focused on their own brands. Passenger said that Coca-Cola, ABC Television, and Sara Lee are among the customers using the firm's product to deploy their own private brand communities. The firm is venture funded by Shelter Capital Partners.

LogicalApps Buys Software Line
Irvine-based LogicalApps this morning announced that it has acquired a line of software from Applimation. The cash deal included intellectual property, customer licenses, and support contracts and employees for Applimation's Integra product line. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. LogicalApps is a provider of compliance software for the Oracle market. Applimation's Integra line provides compliance and governance software for the Oracle E-Business Suite.

SOA Software Partners With Systar
Los Angeles-based SOA Software has partnered with Systar, a provider of business activity monitoring software, the firms said today. The two will provide a Service Oriented Architecture-enabled software offering that ties together Systar's business activity monitoring software and SOA Software's web services products. SOA Software provides software for the enterprise market, an is backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Redpoint, Mellon Ventures, Palisades Ventures Fund and Paladin Capital Group.

QUALCOMM Gives Funding To BREW Projects
San Diego-based Qualcomm announced today that it is giving funding to a set of groups for developing wireless applications based on the firm's BREW application development environment. The funding is targeted at public service applications, and totals $1M. The grand prize winner was Tata Consutancy Services, which is developing a wireless connectivity system for rural farmers in India. Qualcomm also funded a project for tracking avian flu, a text-to-speech application for the visually impaired; (More info...)
