Advanced BioHealing Gets $25.5M
La Jolla-based Advanced BioHealing, a firm developing treatments that accelerate wound healing, said this morning that it has raised $25.5M in a Series C financing. The round was led by Safeguard Scientifics, and also included Channel Medical Partners, and Red Abbey Venture Partners, along with existing investors Canaan Partners and Wheatley Partners. The firm currently has an approved treatment for treating diabetic foot ulcers.

Exist Global Gets Venture Funding
Marina Del Rey-based Exist Global, a provider of offshore software engineering services, said today it has received a round of venture capital funding. Exist Global provides offshore outsourcing based on workers in the Phillipines. The name of the investors, and amount of the funding was not disclosed. Exist Global said the funding will go towards fueling the firm's global expansion. The firm was founded and is chaired by Winston Damarillo, who was founder of Gluecode Software.

Amp'd Mobile Launches Original Series
Los Angeles-based mobile carrier Amp'd Mobile said this morning that it has launched a new, original entertainment series targeted at mobile phones. The firm's new animated series, "Lil' Hollywood" is a parody of Hollywood celebrities. One new episode a week will be featured on Amp'd mobile's Amp'd Live service, for six weeks. The new series is part of venture-backed Amp'd Mobile's youth- and entertainment-oriented cell phone service.

Snap.com Launches Idea Contest
Pasadena-based Perfect Market Technologies, which operates the Snap.com search engine, announced today that it is looking to award up to $2500 to users who provide the firm with ideas on how to improve the company's Snap Preview service. The service, which Snap.com offers free to web site designers and blog sites, allows users to display "previews" of web site when users hover over links. The contest is open through March 15th.

SIPphone Adds Support For Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live
San Diego-based SIPphone, the company behind the open source VoIP calling software Gizmo Project, said today that it has released a new version of the software with support for calling into Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live. The firm's new Gizmo Project 3.0 now connects into Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live, Google Talk, and Jabber, in addition to other Gizmo users.

iRise Gets Simulation Patent
El Segundo-based iRise, a provider of software tools for designing applications, announced this week that it has been awarded its first U.S. Patent. The patent, number 7,174,286, was granted February 6th. According to the firm's patent filing, the patent is entitled "Systems and methods for defining a simulated interactive web page", and was granted to Maurice Martin, Stephen Brickley, Leon Amdour, Alex Kravets, Brian Fan, Dominic Infante, Stuart Larking, and Paul Aldama. ITU Ventures Taps Warner Bros. For Chief Strategist
Los Angeles-based venture capital firm ITU Ventures has appointed former Chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell Music, Leslie E. Bider, as Chief Strategist. ITU Ventures said that Bider will focus on value creation at the portfolio and team levels for the fund. Bider has also served as COO of Warner Bros. Music and Bider & Montgomery.
