Alacrity Biosciences Raises $8.45M In Debt
Laguna Hills-based Alacrity Biosciences announced today that it has raised $8.45M in a private financing. Investors in the company were not disclosed, however the funding took the form of a convertible note. Paramount BioCapital was the placement agent in the deal. The firm said the funding will go towards development of the firm's treatments for opthalmic diseases.

QUALCOMM Conducts MediaFLO Trials In Taiwan
San Diego-based Qualcomm announced yesterdaythat it is collaborating with China Network Systems and Taiwan Television for a trial of the firm's high speed video delivery system, MediaFLO, in Taiwan. QUALCOMM will conduct a technical trial featuring four live channels of China Network Systems content, and three live channels of Taiwan Television content. The trial will be used by the channels to evaluate the performance of Qualcomm's MediaFLO technology.

Linksys Bundles IP Phones
Irvine-based Linksys, a provider of business networking hardware, and Sotto Wireless said this morning that the two will bundle LInksys phones with Sotto's hosted communication service. The new bundle will target VARs in the small business market. Sotto Wireless is a provider of voice messaging and communications services.

Kintera Names CEO
San Diego-based Kintera announced today that Richard LaBarbera has been named CEO of the firm. LaBarbera also joins the firm's board of directors. Current CEO Harry E. Gruber has resigned, but will continue to serve on the board. Kintera is a provider of software as a service to nonprofits and the government. LaBarbera was most recently COO of the firm.

SOA Software Targets IBM WebSphere
Los Angeles-based SOA Software has rolled out a new product focused on the popular IBM WebSphere application server. SOA Software said that its products now support WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker (WBI). SOA Software is a provider of software for managing service oriented architecture (SOA) based software, and is backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Redpoint, Mellon Ventures, Palisades Ventures Fund and Paladin Capital Group.

Novatel Wireless Expands Board
San Diego-based Novatel Wireless has added a new member to its board of directors, saying today that Greg Lorenzetti has joined the group. Lorenzetti is president of private equity firm Titan Partners LLC. Novatel Wireless is a provider of wireless broadband access hardware and software.

Newport Media Adds Dwight Decker to Board of Directors
Conexant Systems CEO Dwight Decker has joined the board of Lake Forest-based Newport Media, according to Newport Media. Decker is the fifth member of the privately held firm's board. Newport Media is a venture backed firm developing single chip mobile digital TV semiconductors, used for DVB-H and DVB-T digital video standards.
