Break.com Partners With WCSN
Los Angeles-based Break.com, an online web site focused on men, said today that it is in an agreement with World Championship Sports Network (WCSN) to deliver a new WCSN branded sports channel on its video sharing site. The firms said they will share advertising revenue generated from Olympic and lifestyle sports videos from WSCN which will be posted to Break.com's web site. SIPphone Launches Free SMS Service
SIPphone, the San Diego-based maker of voice-over-IP software, said today that it has launched a new, web-based SMS service called Gizmo SMS. The new service allows anyone to send SMS text messages to mobile phones from any web browser. SIPphone said that the new service will allow the sending of SMS messages to any mobile number in over 65 countries.

Strix Gets Win In Finland
Calabasas-based Strix Systems, a provider of wireless mesh networking equipment, announced Wednesday that it has scored a win in Finland. The firm's hardware will be used by the City of Oulu, Finland, for a city-wide wireless network. The network will provide open and free WiFi connectivity for the general public. The equipment install will go toward expanding the city's network, which has been in operation since 2003. Financial size of the deal was not disclosed.

Userplane Powers Local Campaign
Santa Monica-based Userplane said today that a local politician running for mayor in Philadelphia, Dwight Evans, is deploying the firm's web chat tools to power a weekly live video chat. The firm said that this is the first use of its web chat tools for a political campaign. Dwight Evans is a Democratic candidate for Philadephia mayor. Userplane is a provider of chat and other community tools for online web site communities, and is owned by AOL.

Eyespot, Paramount Picture In Mashup Deal
San Diego-based Eyespot, a provider of online digital video editing tools, said today that it has partnered with Paramount Pictures in an effort to allow users to create movie trailer mashups based on Paramount's upcoming films. Paramount will allow film fans to create their own movie trailer mashups using its exclusive film footage and Eyespot's online video editing service. Digital Insight Gets Win With TotalBank
Calabasas-based Digital Insight announced today that its Internet banking service have been selected by TotalBank, a Miami bank. Digital Insight's system will be used to serve TotalBank's 24,000 customers covering $1.3B in assets. Digital Insight is a provider of online banking software used by financial institutions to provide Internet banking services, and is a unit of Intuit.

Inphi Appoints VP Engineering
Westlake Village-based Inphi, a developer of high performance integrated circuits, said Tuesday that it has appointed a new Vice President of Engineering. Inphi has appointed Norman K. Yeung to the position. Yeung joins Inphi from Sun Microsystems, where he led Sun's Millennium processor development. Yeung also was founder of Sandcraft, and has served at Silicon Graphics, Cydrome, and other firms.

TherMark In Alliance
Los Angeles-based TherMark, a company that develops laser marking technology, said Tuesday morning that it is in a partnership with Atomic Art, a provider of laser decorating technology for the custom decoration industry. The two said that they will create a distribution company, Permanent Impressions, to distribute laser decorating technology from Atomic Art, which was developed in conjunction with TherMark.
