Zogenix Gets $10M Loan Facility
San Diego-based Zogenix, a pharmaceutical firm focused on neuroscience, said today that it has received $3.5M from a $10M loan facility from GE HealthCare Financial Services. The firm will use the funding to finance launch of its first product, an acute treatment for migraines. Zogenix is venture-backed by Clarus Ventures, Domain Associates, Life Science Angels, Scale Ventures and Thomas, McNerney & Partners.

Broadcom, Qualcomm Settle Two Lawsuits
Irvine-based Broadcom and San Diego-based Qualcomm said Friday that the two companies have settled two patent infringement lawsuits. Qualcomm said Friday that it has agreed with Broadcom to dismiss two patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation lawsuits; Broadcom said that in term it would dismiss counterclaims against Qualcomm in the suits. However, Broadcom still has a case of patent infringement and a U.S. International Trade Commission antitrust claim pending against Qualcomm. Bot (More info...)

The Active Networks Buys Thriva
San Diego-based The Active Network announced today that it has acquired Bothell, Washington-based Thriva LLC, a provider of online management software and registration for camp and event organizations. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Thriva provides services to summer camps, corporate meeting and conferences, and other events. Matt Ehrlichman, CEO of Thriva, has joined Active as part of the deal.

myShape Launches Online Store
Pasadena-based myShape said today that it has launched its online store and system for matching women to fashions. The firm said that its system will match the measurements and fashion attributes of clothing to a woman's specific measurements, to eliminate the time and frustration of searching for clothing. The company, which is angel-backed by the Pasadena Angels and others, is led by Lousie Wannier.

Parasoft Takes On AJAX
Monrovia-based ParaSoft announced that its automated web testing software now supports the popular Web 2.0 AJAX development methods. ParaSoft said its WebKing automated testing suite can now determine where errors are introduced in AJAX and RIA applications. AJAX is used by web-based software in such applications like Google Maps and other interactive web sites. Parasoft's software is used by developers to find and fix coding errors.

Fonality Upgrades PBX Appliance
Los Angeles-based Fonality, a provider of PC-based PBX platforms, said today that it has announced a new enterprise telephony appliance based on its trixbox software. The firm said that its new appliance includes its IP-PBX software in a rack mount server platform, and is aimed at businesses with five to 500 employees. Fonality develops IP-PBX software products based on the open source Asterisk project.

Accruent Names Marketing VP
Santa Monica-based Accruent has named a new Vice President of Marketing. The firm said today that Peter West has joined the firm in the position. West has served as an executive at such companies as ASK, Avalon Software, Platinum Software, and RiverOne, along with others. Venture-backed Accruent is a provider of software for managing real estate assets.
