ContentNext Adds Posell As COO
Santa Monica-based ContentNext, publisher of the PaidContent, MocoNews, and ContentSutra online publications, announced Tuesday that it has added Jordan Posell as COO of the firm. According to Rafat Ali, the founder of ContentNext, Posell will help the firm manage, develop, and expand the firm's business. Posell was most recently CFO at Neven Vision, and has also served at GameFly, LivePlanet, eToys, Idealab, and other area firms.

HowFamous Gets Angel Funding
HowFamous.com, a Huntington Beach-based online site that operates an web-based talent contest community, said today it has closed its first angel round of funding. The funding came from a group of Orange County investors. According to HowFamous, the funding will be used for marketing, operations and business development. Interview with Scott Jarus, CEO of Cognition

Userplane Adds Free Instant Messaging App
Santa Monica-based Userplane announced today that it has released a free, Flash-based instant messaging application for any web site. Userplane said that its free Instant Community solution allows any website to provide chat, instant messaging, voice and video streaming, and other features. The free instant messaging application is tied into a advertising revenue-sharing program the firm said it will release later this year.

Move.com Launches Trend Spotting Feature
Move.com announced this morning that it is launching a new weekly section highlighting real estate trends on its web site. The Westlake Village-based firm said that it will feature Top 10 and "Best-of" lists and trend articles in the new section. Move provides online services focused on real estate, moving, and related home web sites.

8e6 Targets Government Agencies
Orange-based 8e6 Technologies, a provider of internet filtering and threat management products, said today it is targeting public-sector organizations with a new partner program. The firm will provide services to government resellers to help them take 8e6 products to the government market. The channel program includes technical support, trining, field engineers, leads, and other information.

Siafu Adds Data Replication Support
Poway-based Siafu Software, a provider of IP storage appliances and software, announced today that it has added block-based replication for encrypted data on its SAN appliances. The feature adds asynchronous replication between its appliances, at no cost. Asynchronous replication is used by data storage users to replicate data between remote sites, for data protection and backup. Siafu is a developer of iSCSI storage hardware.

NetApp Taps QLogic For Switches
Network Appliance has tapped Aliso Viejo-based QLogic for QLogic's line of Fibre Channel switches, according to the firm. QLogic's SANbox 9000 and SANbox 5600 switches are now available through Network Appliance in conjunction with the firm's network attached storage products. Network Appliance is a developer of network attached storage products; QLogic is a manufacturer of storage area network equipment.
