CardioNet Raises $110M
CardioNet, a provider of wireless mobile cardiac monitoring hardware, has raised $110M in an bridge financing round, the firm said today. San Diego-based CardioNet did not disclose investors in the firm. According to the company, CitiGroup Global Markets served as lead placement agent for the financing. CardioNet said that it has now raised over $200M in private debt and equity for its medical device products.

Biosite Acquired By Beckman Coulter
San Diego-based Biosite, a biomedical company commercialization products in the area of proteomics, has been acquired by Fullerton-based Beckman Coulter, in a deal worth $1.55B in cash. Beckman Coulter and Biosite said today they are in a definitive merger agreement to acquire all of Biosite's common stock for $85.00 per share. The deal is expected to close in Q2 of 2007.

Helio Adds Mobile Device
Los Angeles-based mobile phone service provider Helio announced today that it has introduced a new, mobile device with full keyboard support. Helio said today that its new Helio Ocean combines a numeric keypad, QWERTY keyboard, in a single device. The device, which the company bills a "dual-slider", works as a phone but slides open to reveal either a keypad or a QWERTY keyboard. Helio is a provider of consumer wireless services, and is a joint venture of Earthlink and SK Telecom.

Arrowhead Acquires Nanomedicine Firm
Pasadena-based Arrowhead Research has has formed a new wholly owned subsidiary focused on nanomedicine, the company said this morning. The firm also said that it has agreed to acquire the assets and name of C Sixty, a firm developing biopharmaceuticals based on buckministerfullerenes. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Conexant's Decker To Retire
Newport Beach-based Conexant Systems announced today that Dwight W. Decker, the firm's CEO, plans to retire. Conexant said that Decker will retire in the fall of this year, and that the board of directors has established a search committee to select a new CEO. Decker will continue to serve as chairman of the board. Decker has headed Conexant since its spinoff from Rockwell International in 1999, except for a brief retirement in 2004.

Gamma Enterprise Technologies Adds Partner Program
Woodland Hills-based Gamma Enterprise Technologies has launched a new partner reseller program, the firm said this today. Gamma said that its new partner program is being launched with 23 channel partners in the Americas, Asia Pacific, and EMEA, and will enable more of its customers to benefit from its solutions. The program includes training, web-based information, and other resources for the firm's resellers. Gamma Enterprise Technologies develops data management software for the SAP market.
