GoTV Networks Gets Strategic Investment From Motorola
Sherman Oaks-based GoTV Networks has received a strategic investment from Motorola, Motorola said this morning. Motorola announced that Motorola Ventures, its venture capital arm, made an equity investment in GoTV Networks, which provides mobile television content. Financial terms were not disclosed. GoTV Networks has previously received venture funding from Bessemer Venture Partners and Charles River Ventures.

Electronic Clearing House, Intuit Terminate Merger
Camarillo-based Electronic Clearing House and Intuit Inc announced this morning that they have mutually agreed to terminate the merger of the two companies. The merger, which was announced December 14th, would have been worth $142M in cash. ECHO and Intuit said that they have agreed to release each other from all claims under or related to the terminated merger agreement. Orqis Medical Raises $12M
Lake Forest-based Orqis Medical, which is developing therapies for treating congestive heart failure, said that it has raised $12M in the second close of its Series D round of financing. The funding brings the company's Series D total to $34.7M. Investors in the round included Wasatch Advisors, Cross Creek Capital, and the Omega Fund, along with existing investors.

CallWave Introduces Voice-to-Text Service
Santa Barbara-based CallWave announced a new service which converts mobile voicemail into text today, which it will offer to its users and as a private label service to carriers. The firm said that its new Vtxt service uses speech recognition to convert voicemails on user handsets into text messages which can be accessed from a web page. MySpace Files Suit Aginst Sanford Wallace
Los Angeles-based MySpace has filed suit against Sanford Wallace, for violation of the CAN-SPAM Act, and California's anti-spam and anti-phishing statutes. Wallace is well known for promoting himself as the "Spam King" in the late 1990's. MySpace said that it has filed suit in the United States District Court in Los Angeles, seeking a permanent injunction barring Wallace and his affiliated companies from the MySpace site. Viva! Vision Rolls Traffic App
Santa Monica-based Viva! Vision, a venture-backed provider of mobile video programming targeted at Latin America, said today it has introduced a new live traffic monitoring application for mobile devices in Latin America. The new mobile app, LiveTraffic, will provide live video traffic updates in major cities in the region. The product will be offered through Iusacell & Unefon in Mexico.

AAA, Networks In Motion Announce Navigation Software
Aliso Viejo-based Networks in Motion and the AAA said today that they have announced a new, mobile phone-based GPS navigation and travel application. The new AAA Mobile application, which is based on the Networks In Motion location-based services platform, will provide visual and audible travel directions, information on AAA rated hotels and restaurants, and AAA member savings. CilpBlast Upgrades Video Search Site
Agoura Hills-based ClipBlast, an online video search engine, is announcing today that it has launched version 2.0 of the firm's web site. ClipBlast provides a meta-search of online video sites, and includes category-based browing of videos, personalized video clip bookmarks, and contextual search tools. The company's index includes both online video from major providers and television stations, along with user-generated video clips and sites like YouTube.

ClearMesh Launches Wireless Mesh Product
ClearMesh has launched a wireless mesh product, targeted at high resolution video surveillance and IT applications. The Pasadena-based firm announced Monday afternoon that its latest product will provide 100 Mbps of full duplex bandwidth, along with quality of service functionality. The company is marketing the product to system integrators and security professionals. ClearMesh develops wireless mesh network equipment based on free space optics.

Sequoia Communications Names VP Finance, Operations
