Answerbag Upgrades Site
Los Angeles-based Answerbag.com, the social Q&A web service focused on allowing users to ask questions and get answers, has upgraded the firm's web site. Answerbag 5.0 Beta went live Thursday, adding such features as separate sections for social and fact-based Q&A, a simpler search process, and personalization features. NovaCardia Files For IPO
San Diego-based NovaCardia has filed for an IPO, saying last night in a filing with the SEC that it is looking to raise up to $86.25M in an IPO on the NASDAQ Global Market. The IPO is being underwritten by JPMorgan, Credit Suisse, Pacific Growth Equities, and First Albany Capital. Novacardia is developing biopharmaceuticals for the treatment of major cardiovascular diseases. TechnoCom, Card Access In Strategic Alliance
TechnoCom Corp., a provider of mobile-infrastructure technology and services, and Card Access Inc., a developer of wireless communications devices, have formed a partnership, the firms revealed earlier this week. Under the terms of their agreement, Card Access will design and manufacture 802.11-compliant radio devices that support TechnoCom software written to the IEEE 1609 and 5.9 GHz DSRC/WAVE specifications. SL Power Expands Distribution With Avnet
SL Power Electronics, a Ventura-based manufacturer of AC/DC and DC/DC power supplies, has extended an agreement with electronics components distributor Avnet. Avnet said Thursday that under the revised contract, Avnet's Electronics Marketing Americas group will now distribute SL Power's Condor-brand power supply products in addition to the various Ault-brand products already available.
