YouMail Names CEO
Irvine-based YouMail, a startup developing personalized voice mailbox services, has appointed a new CEO, the company said today. YouMail said that Alex Quilici has joined the firm as CEO, and has also joined the board. Quilici was most recently Vice President of AOL Voice Services. Current CEO and co-founder Dave Key will become VP of Corporate Development. YouMail is angel backed by the Tech Coast Angels, and recently raised $1.87M in its first round.

Orexigen Sets IPO Pricing Range
San Diego-based Orexigen Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical firm developing treatments for central nervous system disorders, has set the pricing range for the company's IPO. The firm said in a filing with the SEC last night that it will offer 6,000,000 shares of its common stock between $11.00 and $13.00 per share. Ascenta Therapeutics Raises $50M
San Diego-based Ascenta Therapeutics has raised $50M in a Series C financing, the firm said this morning. Ascenta said that it has received $30M in a first tranche of funding, with the remainder of the funding dependent on specific milestones. The funding round came from Perseus LLC, and also included prior investors Domain Associates, Sofinnova Ventures, Enterprise Partners Venture Capital, Scale Venture Partners, and US Venture Partners. Entropic Communications Buys RF Magic
San Diego-based Entropic Communications, a venture-backed startup in the semiconductor space, said today it has acquired RF Magic, a San Diego-based developer of radio frequency (RF) systems-on-a-chip. Terms were not disclosed. According to the firms, the two will focus on the connected home entertainment market. Amp'd Mobile Reports Mobile Numbers
Los Angeles-based youth mobile phone operator Amp'd Mobile has announced rough subscriber numbers, saying today that it has nearly reached 200,000 subscribers. Amp'd said today that it signed up an additional 84,000 new subscribers in the first quarter of 2007, and that it is receiving more than $100 average revenue per user on those subscriptions. MySpace Launches Theatrical Trailers
Los Angeles-based MySpace announced this morning that it is launching an online portal for theatrical trailer premiers. The new portal, which the firm is calling "Trailer Park" has opened with the firm "Good Luck Chuck" from Lionsgate. According to MySpace, the new portal will allow movie studies to connect with its film fanbase on MySpace.

Inphi Opens Japanese Office
Westlake Village-based Inphi, a provider of high speed integrated circuits, disclosed today that it has opened a Japanese office. Inphi said that it has named Kenta Sakurai as Country Manager for Japan. According to the company, the new Tokyo office is a response to growing demand for the firm's ICs in Japan. Inphi's components are used for processing high speed computing and communications systems.

Breach Expands In Europe
Carlsbad-based Breach Security has opened new offices in London and Herzliya, Israel, the security firm said today. The company said the offices will include both sales and product development staff for its web application firewall. Breach, which develops web application security products, said that the firm is part of an aggressive expansion into the European market. The company also said it has added three new sales partners in the region.
