Experian Buys Hitwise For $240M
Costa Mesa-based Experian announced Thursday morning that it has acquired Hitwise, a Internet marketing analysis firm based in Melbourne, New York and London. The deal was worth $240M in cash. Hitwise is a aggregator of traffic information from Internet Service Providers, which it sells to companies looking to understand demographics, traffic patterns, and visitor behavior. Q1 Cleantech Venture Investments Hit $903M
North American and European investors invested a staggering $903M in clean technology investments in Q1 of 2007, according to a report released today by Cleantech Venture Network, a group that focuses on clean technology investments. Cleantech Venture Networks said that it tracked $903M in investments for the quarter, a 16.5% increase over $775M invested in Q4 of last year, and up 42% from Q1 2006, when there was $634M in investment in the sector.

Superprotonic Gets $16.2M
Pasadena-based Superprotonic, a developer of fuel cell technology based on technology spun out of Caltech, said Wednesday evening that it has raised $16.2M in a Series B financing round. The round was led by US Venture Partners, and also included Dow Venture Capital, CMEA Ventures, Nth Power Technologies, Hydro Technology Ventures, Battelle Ventures, Innovation Valley Partners and OnPoint Technologies. X-Digital Systems Buys Assets From DG FastChannel
San Diego-based X-Digital Systems, a provider of satellite communications products, said today that it has acquired certain assets of StarGuide Digital Networks from DG FastChannel. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. X-Digital also said it has secured a patent license for patents from StarGuide. X-Digital Systems is a developer of satellite receivers used by broadcasters.

Movielink Expands Content
Santa Monica-based Movielink has expanded its lineup of titles, saying today that it has entered a distribution agreement with KOCH Entertainment. KOCH is a producer of independent feature films and documentaries, including the recent Lost Tomb of Jesus documentary which recently aired on the Discovery Channel. Gemstar-TV Guide, CBS In Programming Guide Deal
Los Angeles-based Gemstar-TV Guide International said yesterday that it is in a long term data distribution and advertising agreement with CBS Corporation. The deal covers distribution of the TV Guide On Screen interactive program guide on CBS owned and operated stations, and participating affiliates. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
