Orexigen Prices IPO
San Diego-based Orexigen, a firm developing treatments for CNS disorders and obesity, priced its IPO yesterday, saying it would offer seven million shares of its common stock at $12.00. The firm will trade on the Nasdaq Global Market as OREX. The firm is venture backed by Domain Associates, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Sofinnova Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, Montreaux Equity Partners, Morgenthaler, MPM Bioequities, and Wasatch Advisors. CSC Acquires Covansys
El Segundo-based Computer Sciences Corporation said late Wednesday that it is acquiring Covansys Corporation, a publicly held provider of outsourcing services for the healthcare, financial services, and other indutries, in a deal worth approximately $1.3B. CSC said that it will acquire Covansys for $34.00 per share in cash, in a deal which is expected to complete in CSC's second quarter. The firm's CEO, Van B. Fonality Partners With Telecom Firm
Los Angeles-based Fonality, a provider of IP PBX products based on the open source Asterisk software, said today that it has partnered with Matrix Business Technologies, a telecom services provider. Matrix has selected Fonality's PBXtra solution. Matrix will provide its small and medium sized business customers with the product, which is used to managed business phone systems. Language Weaver, Janya In Marketing Deal
Janya, a New York-based provider of information extraction and text analytics technology, and Los Angeles-based automated translation software firm Language Weaver, announced yesterday that the two are in a new strategic marketing and technology partnership. QLogic Ties Into Oracle Linux Effort
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic, a provider of hardware products for the storage area networking industry, said today that it has joined Oracle's Unbreakable Linux Program, a program to provide enterprise support for the Linux operating system. QLogic said that its Fibre Channel HBAs with provide full interoperability with Oracle's Enterprise Linux product. QLogic's HBA products are used to connect servers into enterprise storage networks.
