TeamDating Signs Production Deal
Los Angeles-based TeamDating.com, an online social dating web site, has signed a deal with a reality programming producer to take the firm's concept to television. TeamDating said that Rocket Science Laboratories is working on a show which will take TeamDating's team-based dating concept to a dating-themed reality TV show. Inverness Medical Buys Biosite
Inverness Medical Innovations said Thursday afternoon that it has agreed to buy San Diego's Biosite Incorporate, in a deal worth $92.50 per share, approximately $1.57B. Biosite is commercialization proteomics products for medical diagnosis. Biosite said that it has terminated its previously announced merger agreement with Beckman Coulter. Gorilla Nation Gets $50M From Great Hill
Los Angeles-based online advertising firm Gorilla Nation announced this morning that it has received over $50M in an equity investment from Great Hill Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm. The funding, which is the first outside funding for the company, will go towards developing new online ad technology and products, to broaden the firm's marketing services offerings, for international expansion, and for acquisitions. QUALCOMM, TeleCommunications Systems Partner On BREW
San Diego-based QUALCOMM and TeleCommunications Systems, Inc., a provider of wireless data communications products, said this week that the two are in an agreement to offer location services based on BREW and TCS' positioning server. Fonality Scores Win At BLADE
Los Angeles-based Fonality, the developer of an open source PBX software package based on the popular Asterisk PBX project, announced late Thursday that its product has been selected by BLADE Network Technologies. Fonality said that BLADE, which was a former subsidiary of Nortel, selected the company's PBX software over Nortel's own PBX systems. Size of the deal was not disclosed. Broadcom Designs Gain 802.11n Certification
Communications semiconductor manufacturer Broadcom Corp. announced earlier this week that its Intensi-fi router and client-reference designs have achieved Wi-Fi 802.11n Draft 2.0 certification. Broadcom said its designs had to prove they could work seamlessly with other Wi-Fi Certified 802.11n products in order to gain the certification.
